"Maggot Brain." Would any y'all like to bow down before Eddie Hazel's... |
|
...mind-blowing guitar solo on the title track of Funkadelic's 1971 masterpiece "Maggot Brain"?
The late great Eddie?
Would ya? My God, How fuckin' great is this? "Go, Maggot brain..."

One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed. The live 1983 version blows my mind (although I don't recall who's on guitar on it).

4. F*ckin' Eddie Hazel was after my girlfriend once |
|
I answered the phone and it was him callin' for HER.
It was the last time that happened tho' (I was pissed and I LOVED Eddie Hazel)
as far as I know
and...
no
she and I did not last too long (or maye I should say it WAS too long -lotsa guys called her)
I now happy with my honey of 16 years and two beautiful kids (and no guitar players ringin' our phone at odd hours)

5. Certainly, I understand your bitterness. But dude: Maggot Brain!... |
|
...These fuckin' musicians, though----buncha snakes, not to be trusted, God knows. But still, dude: Maggot Brain!
Anyway: you're right, she's left, he's gone. I guess that's one way of looking at it. I'm sorry for the pain Eddie caused you in your personal life. That ain't right.
But still, dude: Maggot Brain.

8. No, I bow to YOU. And it keeps on goin'. But lemme ask you this: |
|
...Have you heard The Balancing Act's version of "Can You Get To That"? It came out in '88. I don't know what ever happened to this band, but they do a fine version of "Can You..." and it was this album, which my brother gave to me in '88, that led to my seeking out "Maggot Brain" in the first place.
Rock on with yer bad self, count floyd...

I know the Balancing Act well for what I know...First heard them on the Radio Tokyo Tapes Volume 3 and loved that song (don't ask me to name it though I forget!)...Their album I really liked, I still have a concert poster for when I saw them here in Portland (Satyricon)...I got to meet the guys and they were really nice people....
My lps are kinda buried right now so I can't just pull their album out and relisten to it without a day or two's notice! All I can say right now is they were a really good group and knew how to do it...I think perhaps they were ahead of their time...
And You rock on too Westegg!
