I am SOOO proud of DU'ers---y'all are SO sympathetic :) |
|
I am really amazed at the outpouring of sympathy we've all shown to Corarose in the past few weeks---
First when she was having mouth problems and was hesitant to go to the hospital, we all ENCOURAGED her to go, which she did. That action in and of itself prolly saved her from much more horrific situations regarding her mouth
Then when she was down about losing her teeth, NEARLY EVERYONE (and I say "nearly everyone" because of one very mean and very negative person who had to make inappropriate remarks about her situation which were COMPLETELY uncalled for!) came to her thread and offered words of support and inspiration.
Then when she asked for food reccomendations, DU'ers again came together to offer helpful words and recipes and food ideas.
This is why I love this forum---I have been on many message boards for a variety of topics, and I've never met such a group of people who GENUINELY CARED ABOUT ONE ANOTHER.
We have our differences of opinions. We disagree and argue, but I really think at the end of the day, 99% of us have respect and compassion for one another.
I love ya'll---and I'm not even the one in need of encouragement and support---but it really makes me proud the way we look after each other, and when it comes down to the nitty gritty, we put any differences aside and treat others like HUMAN BEINGS, and not just anonymous people on a message board that we'll never meet.
I love DU. Really. Moments like this are the reason I stay on this board. :)
Three Cheers for DU'ers!

I feel the same way. Of course, I just read the title of the thread and thought, "Hey, some sarcastic bastard is about to flame us all!!".... Glad to find it wasn't the case.

4. I know exactly what you mean... |

because I've been on the receiving end of the support. A few months ago, when I found out my now-ex boyfriend was cheating on me, there was a huge and wonderful support thread. Just last week, when I quit smoking, I got another one.
I LOVE DUERS!! :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

Compassion and sympathy / empathy are not rare for people I've seen here. This throws a monkey wrench into the whole freeper argument that libs cosider people as descended from animals, while over there they consider themselves the children of God. Look at how they rejoice and yak it up over thousands of French people dying due to their heat wave...
I know I'm on the right side, and I'm tired of some people's opinion of God's judgement used against me like a tire iron to the side of the head after a fender bender...
there are a lot of really nice people here, but then I usually hang out in LBN or the Lounge, GD I'm not so sure about.

8. I've always felt affirmed from this board.... |
|
starting with Newyawker99's welcome. I'm definitely out of the mainstream here at DU, more centrist/pragmatic than most, and (at 50) a little older than most. I'm southern and christian (if you still call Episcops christian)) and have raised hell about those topics. Then the next day, I would find myself agreeing with someone who pissed me off just the day before, but on a different issue. Politics makes very strange bedfellows.
Anyway, I'm very appreciative of DU support offered me in the past and hope it will be there-when I need it-in the future.
Peace...Steve

I first joined about the time of RBNYC's accident and I was so touched by the outpouring of sympathy for her. Since then there's been many people who needed a cyber-hug and good vibes, and those posts are nearly always over 100. I hope I never need that kind of support but it's so good to know it's here if I do.
Btw, what's the latest on Rene? Anyone??

11. She posted recently with thanks to all |
|
for the concern and good vibes sent to her. She is beginning to ambulate with crutches. She sounds stronger.
I was saddened to hear (in the details) about a tragedy i was unaware of, and am only piecing together what i can with what i remember from the post. I missed the whole sad incident somehow and only found out through the thread i've mentioned. Sorry, don't have a link, perhaps someone will provide.
healing blessings for RBNYC

... DUers, including cora herself, showed up to offer their support to him, as well.
DU really is a great community in spite of the occasional petty arguments and flamefests (and it's my theory that those are all the work of secret freeper disruptors).
