Well if the Freepers want to bury their heads in the sand, I guess that's their choice. Personally, the reason I'm on the web (and not watching TV) is because (1) I want to be able to see & hear it ALL and (2) I want to be able to comment on what I see and hear.

Sheeple prefer one-way broadcast media and web censorship. In the end, it will come back to haunt them because they will make their decisions based on incomplete information. Freepers are afraid of reality and truth.

3. Is it just me...

or have they become WAY more extremist over there in the past 6 months or so. Maybe extremist is too strong a word, but I remember a time when I would read a story that I would immediately have to check what the Freep reaction to the story was. Now, back in the day, you could always count on a percentage of the Freep population to have some common sense where it was warranted.

Lately, when I check on the most jaw-dropping stories of the day, and I go to Freeperland, there are really no common sense voices. Seems most of libertarians are gone too.

4. They're becoming thin-skinned

When Republicans start to notice that they have no real support, they become hypersensitive and thin-skinned and they start to lie and cheat more.

That's what's happening now as the whole country is waking up to see what a sham Bush and his cronies have been.

5. I have noticed that too.

I used to go there to stay informed of opposing viewpoints. But I think most of the thoughtful people have gone. All that's left over there are the real nasty hateful ones. Guess they don't have anywhere else to go.

6. Seriously, it's like Lucianne.com over there now....

I see a lot of racist shit that would get pounced on back in the day and there are no more dissenters. Some people would actually point out the lunacy of Ashcroft or Judge Moore, but anymore, they're holding internet prayer vigils for that idiot Judge and talking in outrage about how wrong it is for them to remove the statue.

Used to be a couple of people would bring up exactly what was wrong with that on constitutional grounds, but not anymore.

Seriously, I don't visit often, but it does seem that the ideologues are in charge and they are far more sensitive about any perceived criticism of their wonderful leader and party.

FordMuscle.com, a supposed apolitical forum about performance cars, but which is basically a open-mic forum for nazis and klansmen.

But regarding FR, it's pretty clear that they are closing ranks. That's what happens when common sense attacks you from every side.
