Poll question: Were you really surprised that Kerry picked Edwards?
Edited on Tue Jul-06-04 07:52 PM by undisclosedlocation
Of course, normally this would be a GD thread, but I took the silly tack mostly so the Lounge seemed more appropriate. Feel free to alert if you so wish.

Seriously, regarding the Bush reply: apparently Bush/Cheney have actually prepared ads to the effect that Edwards is Kerry's second choice. I guess they this is a continuation of their childish "Kerry waffles" talking points, but would you advertise the fact that a major Republican figure was seriously considering taking the Democratic VP spot? Wouldn't this be something you'd rather not mention? Oh, I forgot the universal explanation again: because they're morons.

1. Edwards is a good choice, however, I was slightly surprised
A rumor I heard said it was Gep. Edwards will do very well however, and he is certainly telegenic on top of being gifted. A fine choice.

2. I *have* seen Edwards, and it was clear that he's got something special...
However, I wondered if Kerry saw it, or cared. Kudos to him for keeping such a poker face.

I have to say that the NYPost-rag "Gep's the One" story genuinely threw me -- there have just been so many disappointments in the past few years when it comes to politics.

:kick:

3. I've been grinning since I heard the news
not that I have anything against Gephardt, but Edwards is going to strike fear in the Campaign Actually to Elect the President, and this is all to the good

4. I almost did the same thing about the Gep story
But then I remembered... It's the *bleep*ing NY Post. If they announce it first, they must be wrong.

8. One of my favorite of my own one-liners:
"If you're reading the New York Post and the Washington Times, no wonder you've got everything backwards."

5. Not a doubt in my mind...
I may sound crazy for saying this, but I had no doubt that Kerry would choose Edwards. You may wonder why I never had a doubt about this subject, right? Well, the way I saw it, everytime I saw Kerry having fun, Edwards was always with him. I sensed a strong bond between the guys. Also, their platforms during the primaries were somewhat alike (I know, not all of it was alike, but some points were). During the primaries, they really had nothing negative to say about each other. So, I figured long ago that Edwards would be Kerry's VP! Smart, eh? But I do admit, when I officially found out about the Kerry-Edwards team, I got even more ecstatic!

6. I knew it all along
They are going to win but I am worried about Bush stealing the election again.

11. Talking point for today: Bush says at least Cheney's "qualified"
Pity no one was there to say: "Too bad you're not, Chimpo!"

I kid you not, they're trying the Quayle strategy on somebody who could taken either of them in a debate any day of the week. Wonder what their excuse is going to be for cancelling the VP debates?
