I'm glad I'm not the only one...
...who thought that Edwards would be compared to Quayle.

I haven't been on the computer since 6 am, and just did a search here of "Quayle". Not that I personally compare them both, but y'all must admit there are some similarities.

That is all - flame me if you must....

1. Similar how?
I personally don't see it. Quayle seemed rather simple, and his relationship with Bush could be comparable with the Cheney/Bush dynamic. I think Edwards is a man of ideas and is closer to Gore in ideology than Quayle.

Just my $0.02

Oh yeah....

2. Maybe by Quayle
I don't see any similarities except concerning anatomy and hair color.

4. there are NO similarities
I WATCHED the debates in '88 and Quayle looked like he was gonna cry when up against Bentson, but on the other hand Edwards would have taken on Bentson and Bentson would have been proud.

Watched that debate ...read my signature line...that tells you how MUCH I loved it.

NO COMPARISON WHATSOEVER.

5. the only thing Quayle taught us...
...is that the VP pick has absolutely nothing to do with the way people vote.

There has never been a less qualified, more embarrassing pick than Quayle since cnadidates began pickiong their runningmates. I've only known one conservative that didn't think he was a total joke, but that was because he was from the same hometown.

Also, keep in mind GHW Bush made that pick when he was substantially behind Dukakis. It appeared to be a disastrous pick, which it actually was. But people DO NOT vote based on the VP, no matter how bad.

This election is 85% about GWB/Cheney (thank god), 10% about Kerry, 4.5% about Nader, and .5% about Edwards.

8. yeah, as if this country has never know adversity prior to 9-11
give me a break.

This country has known hardship so much more significant than anything it's experience in the last 25 years.

This country elected a ticket with Dan Quayle as VP at the very climax of the cold war. Global themonuclear war was still THE threat. Nowadays it's car bombs.

So spare me the dramatics. People DO NOT base their vote on the VP choice.

Quayle was picked because he was young, "handsome" (their opinion, not mine), and a rising star who would help bring in the youth vote.

The one similar bit that I've heard all frigging day--both here and on the news--is how good looking Edwards is. Look, he might be attractive, but that's the last thing I care about when I'm talking/thinking politics.

It's like listening to high schoolers talking about their crushes.
