I sold Olympic Cards door to door to earn prizes as a kid. Dad made my brother and me mow yards for a job in middle school. All throughout high school I was a paper boy getting up at 3 in the morning (and fortunately back to bed at 4 - small town). I tried being a janitor's assistant at the high school when I was a freshman but didn't like it and quit after two weeks.
Off to college. Fortunately, I had a full scholastic scholarship that paid for everything. I still worked as a tutor for the university as well as on my own for high school students and was a teacher's assistant at some of the local high schools (math classes). I was an assistant secretary in the foreign languages department for a semester. I also sold vaccuum cleaners by appointment my last year there (really good ones too - I bought one later on) and would have been the top seller in the state if everyone who I got to sign up had had their credit application go through. Alas. I also worked at two different McDonalds for 3 weeks each - once during school (felt my grades were on the verge of suffering) and once during summer before I headed off to take my last Spanish class in Mexico.
Off to grad school. I was a teacher assistant in the math department. When I switched departments because they lied to me, I got a job as a programmer in town. I was also the interim Hispanic and Vietnamese Student Services Coordinator at the university for 3 months while they looked for a replacement for the guy who resigned. That was at the request of a lot of the Hispanic students, which was a compliment for a honky like me.
Into the corporate world. Programmer in some ancient scripting languages at the first company I worked for. Coldfusion programmer at the second company I worked for, who laid me off back in September.
Since I've been in layoff lala-land, I've worked temporary jobs as A concession stand manager at the state fair. Seasonal Halloween help at the local magic/costume store in town (I'm their all time gorilla suit salesperson I'm proud to report). Tech support over the phone (had to quit that job because I couldn't hack staying up to 2 am on the shift they had me on). Freelance website/database programming.
And since July 4 of 2003, I've had my own entertainment side business where I twist balloons, do magic, or juggle at restaurants, corporate events, or private parties. I just finished a run at the local Fuddruckers Gourmet Hamburgers for the July 4th weekend.
So that's 18 or so. I'm 32.

Worked in some advertisment flyer place where I put the ads together in baggies (my first job at 14) Worked in a laundry Worked in a fast food restaurant Went back to the laundry because the restaurant wouldn't give me enough hours Worked in a bookstore and went to college Went to work with the developmentally disabled full-time while still going to school Picked up a part-time job in a convenience store for a few months in the meantime Later picked up a second full-time job with the homeless (had quit school due to financial reasons) then got laid off because the shelter closed Went to manage a small book store until it went under Went to work full-time in another book store while still working full-time with the developmentally disabled Moved to another state and got a job with another agency serving the developmentally disabled. Finished my BS in the meantime. Picked up a second full-time job with the mentally ill
So that would make...11.
