Which is your favorite...what are you playing right now...and what do you recommend as far as new games coming out...?

I'm looking forward to DOOM 3...I just hope it's not delayed again...

Just got done playing Quake...yet again...nightmare difficulty...that was some crazy stuff...

Haven't finished it yet, because I got distracted by Neverwinter Nights, but it's still a cool game.

3. Unreal 2004 for me
My boys are anxiously waiting and waiting and waiting on Doom 3. LOL! They've been waiting a loooong time. In my EBGames newsletter it said 8/3. We'll see!

11. 2003 blows
I couldn't stand it. 2004 is much better. Original UT is great. Played the hell out of that game.

30. Amen, man.
I've been playing UT since 2000 and I cannot quit. 2k3 and 2k4 are just a huge disappointment.

21. Deus Ex 2 was a miserable experience...
Where the first one took me 40 hours to finish the first time I played it, this second one took seven.
That's right. Seven.
And the entire interface was..."consol-ized"...felt like a console game rather than an interactive FPS role-playing experience. The levels were far too small, and while the engine looks nice, wtih excelent lighting effects, it was...lacking something.
Ion Storm did much better with the same engine for their follow-up to Thief 2. That one just came out, and it's much better...if you like first-person-sneakers, rather than first-person-shooters.

Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 12:21 AM by Maestro
looks impressive! Also besides the obvious, HL2 and Doom 3, there are slew of new military tactical shooters coming out that look good and don't forget Call of Duty or the Medal of Honor new shooters coming out.

Plan on a heavy duty rig to handle these games though.

10. Painkiller- Great game.....
I was hooked! The graphics and effects were top notch. I posted this on a earlier thread and was told it was too "religious" or had religious themes. Yes, the goal of the game is to defeat the devil and his mutant army. I didn't find the game making me want to run down to the local southern Baptist church and join or anything. It was just a good FPS game.

12. Americas Army: ArmyOperations 2.0
it's free, built on the Unreal 3 engine, and really, really, hard. There are no computer opponents only other players.

I played the first 1/3rd of Far Cry - kind of lost interest when real life derailed me.

15. Am I the only PC gamer who wasn't impressed with Halo?
I love FPS, but I just can't get into Halo. I don't know if it's the inability to save where you want or the weapon restrictions...something just doesn't click for me with the game.

I'm trying to play Tron 2 now, however the game designers went a bit overboard in making the game too complex to enjoy as a shooter.

17. have you ever played it on the x box?
I've never played it on a PC, but it's the best shooter on the x box IMO. The cooperative play is a kick.

18. I tried it on the X-Box, but I could never get the hang of the controls
I'm a mouse and keyboard player. I can't fire accurately enough with joysticks and end up just getting pissed off at the game instead of enjoying it.

25. it does take awhile to master the controls
I used to play FPSers on the computer, but my "gaming" computer hasn't got the nads to run any of the new stuff. The last one I played on the PC was quake 3, and it couldn't really handle it - it can't even handle Civ 3! The last computer I bought is dedicated to digital music making, I keep having problems with the sound card, which is a third party card. It doesn't want to work with games. That's why we got an x box - to have a dedicated gaming console. Halo is really the only game that I've found worthwhile on that platform, which is a drag. But it is a lot of fun, once you get the hang of it - I'm really looking forward to halo 2.

26. Halo is junk in the PC world, but gold in the bleak console world
So XBOX users drool all over it, when in fact, it's a vary mundane and repetitive game.

16. What? No Battlefield 1942?????
I think that BF 1942 has gotta be the best shooter in PC history. I have played this game longer than I have ever played ANY computer game. I really liked the demos of Painkiller, UT 2004 and Halo. I can't wait to play Star Wars: Battlefront. Its a BF 1942 style game but with SW weapons and vehicles.

before finances prevented me from continuing. Now I play their meager set of offline missions. One day though I hope to return to the air war theater.

29. none of them appear to be Mac Friendly :-(
But, Warbirds 3 is, they also have an AWESOME WW1 sim called Dawn of Aces, and a tank sim that's really good as well.

I am a rotary engine flier mostly. Give me a Sopwith Pup and about 7000 feet and watch me shred canvas.
