Poll question: Best Old-School Arcade Video Games
Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 12:05 PM by Beware the Beast Man
Here's some of my favorites from back in the day. I'd have to say Galaga is my all-time favorite.

EDIT- Tweaked the subject a bit. I'm referring to arcade games only on this poll.

5. I'm 21 and I played all those games.
SMB's is an awesome game...I'm gonna have to split it down the middle thought with Asteroids and Pac-Man.

14. Did Mario Bro's ever come out as an arcade game?
I certainly don't remember that. Everyone had it on Nintendo I don't know what the point would've been

16. Yes, they were called PlayChoice...
...they were a collection of NES games. But you reminded me of X-Men, so that's my favorite.

Frogger, Crazy Climber, Vanguard, Space Invaders, Missile Command, Asteroids, Gauntlet (awesome game!), and Galaxian, to name a few more.

10. The 6 player wide-screen Konami X-men game. Anyone remember it?
You could be Cyclops, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Storm, or Dazzler. I must have spent 60 dollars in quarters on that game over the years.

Anyone know where you can find an emulation of that game? It was the best, by far.

Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 12:19 PM by samwisefoxburr
That is BY FAR my favorite arcade game! Try searching eMule for the game. But if you can't find the game by itself search for MAME (you can find 5-6 CDs worth of arcade games) they are sorted alphabetically.

20. Do you have any advice for a place to download that stuff
I've attempted to look for that stuff before, and it always seemed like the websites were really dirty, as in foriegn and/or lots of popups and probably viruses and spyware and stuff.

27. www.emule-project.org
eMule is a file-sharing program, it's open source and does not have adware, spyware, etc. Just install that and, like I said above, search for X-Men, or MAME. Hope that helps!

29. Do you have it? Because I'd appreciate if you did a search to see
if they have it. I don't want to download a whole new file sharing program when I already have and use Kazaa, which I'm pretty sure has a much bigger selection, particularly when I don't know if it will have that game.

I don't know that much about computer jargon and what not. So I don't know what "open-source" means. If I downlaod another P2P it'll probably be Sharezaa as someone said you can use it to download Torrent files, which I'm still trying to understand.

34. M.A.M.E. is just too cool
although my inner adolescent is outraged by it, after having blown his allowance a quarter at a time back in the early '80s.

The cool 3-D elevators were lots of fun. As was outrunning those funky hopping coiled up snake things.

I got really good at this one from all the free tokens we got from my friend's boyfriend who worked at Chuck E. Cheese in high school.

32. Space Invaders is my favorite
I have the newer version on my Gameboy. I don't have any other video system. Plus, Rush immortalized it in song.

The game brings out my worst compulsive tendancies, however.
