...all you veggie lovers here at DU so I may be encouraged to eat more veggies (which I hate).

BTW, when I bought the snow peas yesterday it was almost a half pound and I had cooked them all and brought them to work today (I didn't eat any of them yesterday). I also drank about a liter of water to help get those damn peas down.

1. how do you feel about fruits?
If you eat lots of fruits then you don't have to eat as many veggies.

Oh, and congrats on eating your snow peas!

2. Eat your peas so
you can grow big and strong and help reverse the American empire!

Oh, one more idea I use to make veggies more interesting -- since you're not trying to be a vegetarian -- take a thin slice of ham or turkey and either put pieces in with the veggies, or just on top.

(Or, hmmmm, in your case, maybe you need to put a twenty dollar bill at the BOTTOM of the veggies, for you to find when you're done!)

3. I just ate a pound of spinach
And enjoyed every leaf!

The trick is to mix them with something, like spices, oil, etc. But it's probably not a good idea to mix vegetables with tequila, even if it was the method Mrs. Pitt used to get young Will to eat his greens.

6. Have you tried sautéing them in a little oil and soy sauce?

That's a good way to make veggies more flavorful. Cook them with some tofu or eggs, serve over rice. There ya go. :9

10. I am very proud of you!
What is it about veggies you find so offensive? The taste? The texture?

As for me, I love veggies. I tend to go for green veggies more often than not, and have no love of any of the mushy squashes. I do like turnip and sweet potato though.

14. Have you tried raw veggies?
I am a vegetarian who despises almost all cooked veggies, especially the green ones. The taste of green veggies cooked literally makes me gag.

So I do two things that help:

I drink a Odwalla juice called Super Food, which tastes like bananas and has all sorts of good green things it it.

I eat most of my veggies -- especially the green ones -- raw with a dressing or dip. It really makes all the difference for me, and is the only way I get green stuff in my bod.

Raw peas are a particlar favorite - very sweet and tender.

22. I used to hate veggies too,
then, I discovered that I didn't hate the veggies, I hated the way my mom cooked the veggies when I was growing up. She's overcook them and they'd be all mushy...yuck! Once I started cooking for myself, I'd just lightly cook them so they are hot, but still crunchy...carrots, squash, cucmbers sauted in olive oil and seasoned with salt & pepper. Yummy!

24. Exactly my situation!
My mom boiled the living bejeesus out of all veggies. I hated them. Once I moved out and discovered a steamer - oooooh, a love affair with all sorts of veggies! I finally tasted what asparagus really tastes like, as well as peas, carrots, broccoli, green beans, corn, everything!!

Which means not cooked very @*%^&$# much.

I'm very proud of you for eating all your veggies, LynneSin!

And it's good to drink a couple litres of water a day.
