DJ wears mask, buys gum at store, clerk hits alarm, DJ arrested!
http://www.statesman.com/news/content/auto/epaper/editions/thursday/news_04ce1f4e941571250001.html

After a broadcast that included chatter about John Kerry's choice of John Edwards as his running mate and Britney Spears' engagement, authorities said Chappell left the station about 9 a.m. and drove to a South Congress Avenue convenience store.

Wanting to see how the clerk would react, Chappell placed a mask over his head and face, walked inside, bought a $1.09 pack of gum and left, police said.

Atif Akhlaque, the clerk on duty Wednesday morning, said he thought he was about to be robbed when he saw the masked man, so he pushed the store's silent alarm.

Chappell was soon arrested after police spotted a car that matched one the clerk described. He was charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine.

2. Hopefully, the DA's Office will handle this appropriately.
Give the guy a night in jail to teach him a lesson and move on.

Our police can be a little...aggressive at times.

4. Well, I've been a DJ off and on for 20 years...
and I'd have to say that most DJs are misfits and losers. The ones that I know have always had problems fitting in (I include myself) when it comes to social situations. They seem to have found a home in radio. I've heard of DJs having sex and doing drugs in the studio. There was one guy who went to an ATM, and the thing kept his card because he was overdrawn. Well, he took a few steps back and kicked the shit out of it with his cowboy boots. He did extensive damage to it. He must have been drunk (he usually was) and didn't realize that the security camera caught him in the act. The sheriff arrested him the next day...while he was on the air.

We're not geniuses even though some of us think we are. I've had to deal with hundreds of egos during my career.
