So what's gonna happen to DU after November?
After we take our country back.
Can we come out of this underground? :)

2. We have to keep up our vigilance.
We need to get the legislative branch on our side and not let them get away with the inevitable negative spin against Kerry.

3. Beating Bush is only the first step.

The amount of damage the RW has done will take years to undo: the environment, the separation of powers, the separation of church and state, the viability of the militry, our foriegn policy...the list of casualties is huge. Also, progressives and liberals must never again allow themselves to descend into petty bickering and self-destruction; we need an AntiDeLay to whip up the unity.

5. Libs and progs keep saying to one another, "We're better than Repubs!"
Just like that fish symbol, sayin' it don't make it so! We must have the honest, clear-headed, rancor-free debates with each other, and save the fire for taking down the bastards who have shortended the life span of both democracy and life on this planet. Full shred.

6. As others have said before
"We hold Kerry's feet to the fire."

The Left can't go to sleep like it did once Clinton was elected. We have to make sure that Kerry keeps the faith.

7. We will become the democratic alternative and continue fighting for TRUTH
and Justice.

Wwe know that Kerry will, for the most part, NEED our support for things we all feel need to be done -- so we can help in that way.

We can support candidates and initiatives who will support what we want and what we believe in.

It is time for Americans to be mobilized into action on a million fronts: poverty, hunger, malnutrition, energy waste and consumption, education, higher education, post graduate education, the plight of ther cities, international relations (especially Israel/Palestine)

Look at it this way: If you had known Bush II was coming during the Clinton years don't you think you would have been more vigilant and politically active in the 1990's?

The Republican fascist corporatists (and all republicans are NOT fascist corporatists, but most do support them in the end for idealogical reasons (taxes and free-market exploitation rights)} KNOW this. They have been in intergenerational power grabbing mode for almost 75 years (since the aborted coup d'etat against FDR by the right wing in the 1930's).

So we have to prepare for THEM as well as fighting within our own parties to HOLD KERRY ACCOUNTABLE for what needs to be done.

In many instances we may have to organize and march against Kerry and his policies (which are NOT going to be utopian nor even very progressive, I am afraid - they just will NOT be outright fascist puke as we have now).

In short - we may be able to come up and breathe the air after the stench is washed away for a few moments (and after we have washed it all well out as possible) BUT we will still need to be the vigilant defenders of the unemployed and the poor, of the working people and the oppressed, of the mothers and the babaies who have known immense suffering under Bush and who need immense efforts for healing now.

La Luta Continua, in other words.

8. As Clinton recently said

and he isn't the only one, that after Carter or even before him, the Repubicans truly believed that they could keep Democrats out of office for a long, long, long time. I think it was Carter that snuck up on them and then Clinton blew them away. That is why they hated Clinton so much. I'm not sure if Clinton would have beaten Bush One if it hadn't been for Perot. I wasn't following the vote count at the time. But the Republican game plan was and IS to rule this country with no interference from pesky Democrats ever again.

Now, if the Democrats believe they can keep the Republicans out forever, I don't really know. But, I do know that if we have the right kind of Democrats in office for a long, long, long time, the world would be nothing but better for it.

11. We'll be bitching about how Bush stole the election again.
These folks are so ruthless, I don't think they're gong to give up power easily. I hope with all my heart that we win in November. But I still think Americans are so dumb, they just might re-elect these criminals.
