Even more efforts to silence Michael Moore

If Jon Alvarez has his way, Michael Moore will be charged with treason. Alvarez is head of a group called Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood, and he wants Moore charged with treason for Fahrenheit 9/11; he's circulated a petition online to send to the Bush administration. I'm not going to post to the petition as I don't support fascism, but it's easy enough to find.

Alvarez makes a pretty serious charge in his petition:

"More of our soldiers are dying as a result of Moore and his movie, and America is increasingly being threatened because of Moore's turncoat treachery. By falsely portraying our government in a negative light, as liars and manipulators, as well as our troops as baby killers and torturers, he incites blood-thirsty terrorists to strike at our homeland, our citizens and military personnel in an effort to weaken America's resolve to fight on to victory."

In a great ironic twist, Stars and Stripes, the military newspaper, reported that the Army-Air Force Exchange Service was in discussions with Lion's Gate, the film's distributor, to have the movie shown at military bases all over the world.

One of the forums he has is to suggest people/companies to add to his (huge) boycott list. So I posted he should put the Army-Air Force Exchange Service on the list, since they were going to eventually show the film to military audiences. Needless to say my account was banned and he deleted my suggestion. I wonder why?

The last part of the movie, where he talks about how "our soldiers offer their lives as long as we promise not to send them in harm's way for unnecessary reason" made me so proud to be an American and so furious about what this administration has done to our country. This is the most patriotic movie of the year!
