Anyone here married to a Republican/conservative? Even dating one?
My girlfriend was liberal before we started dating and after just six months she's gotten even more liberal. I would like to think I played a part in that. I couldn't imagine dating a conservative/Republican. Anyone have the secret to make it work? Humorous stories of where dating/marrying a conservative didn't work?

1. My SIL is marrying one...
Poor guy's coming into an all Democrat family. She's the most conservative-acting of my husband's family, but she still doesn't like the current Republicans in office. I have no idea how she does it. Her fiance gets pretty uncomfortable when we all start talking politics around the dinner table. He's always politely avoided saying anything. Wonder if he'll open up once he's hitched...

2. My girlfriend is an anomaly - the liberal Republican.
Pro-choice, pro-gay rights/gay marriage, pro-arts funding, and pro-various other liberal causes. She's Republican mainly on economic matters. We agree on far more than we disagree on, and she's highly intelligent, able to discuss her views very sensibly. That makes it easier.

3. My girlfriend has hooked me up with one
but I don't think it'll work out. We've dated and while he's not rabidly RW (he doesn't like Bush's economics), he is vocal about his other views, i.e. he's against gov't handouts, but doesn't seem to have a problem with corporate welfare. I'm just as vocal and I think he can tolerate that, but I don't want anyone "putting-up" with me. It's a bit, I don't know... demeaning, or something.

4. I have found myself not even wanting to associate with them lately...
I have a couple friends whose email is now on my kill-filter. And I don't seem to call on lately. I am so-o-o-o tired of their neo-con crap .
I don't need to participate in my oppression.
