David Bowie undergoes angioplasty...
I am a huge Bowie fan from way back. Saw his Reality concert here late May. Absolutely fantastic concert, my 24-year old niece became a fan there and then. She couldn't believe how old he was. He rocked.

A week or so ago he had to cancel some concert dates due to a pinched nerve in his shoulder. Found out in hospital that he had a major clogged artery. He's at home now and hopefully will be OK. Very lucky man.

Here's my point, I went in to mourning when Stevie Ray Vaughn died. The loss of the potential music!

The same holds for Bowie, even though he could be considered an "aging" rocker. He is still putting out good new music (check out "Reality", his latest). He's not just playing old hits like Van Halen, etc.

Any other Bowie fans out there?

1. Huge Bowie fan here....
scored front-row seats for Reality when it came through here. I'd be devastated if he died so young.

I had the same procedure he had - it's not that big a deal, really. He was lucky, as I was, that there was some pain involved. The other symptom of the condition is sudden death.

3. Fall Dog Bombs the Moon
Think that song's about Bush?

"I'm God D*mn Rich, an exploding man, when I talk in the night there's oil on my hands. What a dog."

I was worried about the concert I went to, here in Texas (TONS of flag wavers). I'd heard that in Austin he started "I'm Afraid of Americans" with the comment that he hated America. Then he played "New Killer Star" (about 911) saying he loved America.

I wasn't sure how that would play here in Houston, but he didn't say it. Lots of people waving their hands and showing the peace sign, though, during "I'm Afraid of America".

4. It actually MIGHT be the side-effects of the cocaine...
I adore Bowie. The guy moves me profoundly, and at 57, he's still kicking ass. I'm fortunate enough to live a couple blocks away from him in NYC and sometimes see him on the street. Never had to nerve to say anything to him, though.

Bowie's long-ago massive coke abuse might have something to do with his current situation, but he's been taking care of himself for a while now so it sounds like he'll be fine. There was definitely a time where---and he'll say so himself---one wondered if the Thin White Duke was gonna make it to 40. I'm sending him all good vibes now, as I truly love the man.

I was thinking how so many great rocker don't, in fact, survive into their late fifties and so never actually get to deal with such "elderly" issues as blocked arteries, etc.
