Some advice needed for a newbie!

Hi all,

obviously, I've not gotten the hang of this just yet. Anyway, I read the posting rules and the FAQ page, but is there a thread somewhere that explains how to navigate through this stuff--You know, the unwritten rules and shortcuts kind of thing? I do get a bit lost. I did find a link to all the acronyms and nicknames and that was a godsend.

for someone who had never posted in any forums. I too wished there was a whole page or two of directions.
