Why are some coldcuts square, some round? |
|
Edited on Sat Jul-10-04 06:01 PM by gmoney
I know that back in the day, things like bologna were actually cut from tube-shaped stuffed casings, but I doubt they do that any longer. So, why are some things like ham luncheon meat packaged as square and others like turkey lunch meat circular? Doesn't square make a lot more sense for sandwiches?
"B'loons... do these blow up into funny shapes?"
"No, not unless round is funny."

Also, I've discovered that Kroger Big K cola tastes as good or better than regular Coke, and is a lot less expensive. (does have 20 more calories per can though) Important information for surviving in George Bush's economy.

9. Hot dogs come in packs of 10 |
|
because one will fall through the grate into the fire, and one will fall on the ground and the dog will eat it.

That 20 extra calories per can? A pat of butter. That's why it tastes so good.

Round fits better on kaiser rolls, etc.
It's all fake anyway, tons of fillers, etc.
I don't like luncheon meats.

6. It's because of those cruel, inhumane industrialized pig farms. |
|
They make the pigs grow up until "ripe" in rectangular cages, and pump them up with cubic hormones, when they have filled their boxy cages and their flesh is pushing through the bars (some call this pre-grilling), they are slowly slaughtered by the compaction of the new cage placed on top of them. As the pig above grows from a grueling regimen of force-feeding horse flesh and ground puppy giblets, it pushes down on the cage below, increasing the pre-grilling and slowly suffocating the pig below, this process apparently reduces blood flow enough to make the ham mouth-wateringly lip-smackingly delicious. Not that I'd know anything about that.
It's really hideous, I can't believe you still eat meat, your heart is as pure as shit-covered swine!

Haggis?
I wonder myself, but I prefer lunch meat to an old stand-by like Haggis.

We live in a city of ~55,000 where the major chains are within a few minutes of one another. We have Kroger, Winn Dixie and Foodland (a local chain that stays competitive with the big ones).
1. Look through all the sale flyers and make lists of what's on sale that we need at each grocery store.
2. Hit those stores (generally two of them), getting only what's on our list of items on sale.
3. Go to Wal-Mart and get the remainder (I know I'm financing corporate evil, but I'm basically a miser). BTW, I never buy cuts of meat at Wally World, since it's always more expensive. Always.
