What has happened to class?
I belong to a religious based Internet dating service. Several times a week, men write to me and attempt to start conversations that are sexually explicit within the first few lines of conversation. Some of my friends have experienced the same thing. One guy even offered a friend of mine money to come over and have sex with him. What gives? It's very frustrating. Don't these men have mothers or sisters? I can't imagine that they would like anyone to talk to their family members like that.

1. If they were brought up in a very religious family

they were probably sexually repressed. Or perhaps they became religious to try to repress their deviant sexual desires. Too much religion can be psychologically damaging.

3. Lack of civility started under Raygun
and has continued in a downhill slide. :-( Some people think the Internet gives them license to say anything, crap they would never dare to say to anyone face to face, it is really disheartening.:-(

6. Because some women go for that
While some are shocked and offended, every once in a while the men who send out those emails will get a response from a woman who just wants sex at that moment. Some women like sexually aggressive men.

That's why nice guys always complain that jerks and "bad boys" get more sex.

9. That is a myth
sorry, but 'bad boys' turn most women off. I waited for a MAN, one who treats me with respect, and we're very happy together. Nice guys do finish first.

12. Sure, nice guys finish first
when a woman is ready to have a good boyfriend or settle down and get married.
But, the bar scene or when a young woman just wants to get laid is another story. Obviously I would never claim ALL women are like that, but it seems like a good number are. If that weren't true then a lot more men would start being nice guys types.

17. Don't know about the bar scene
But my husband was plenty experienced before we got hitched. Apparently a lot of women who just wanted a roll in the hay and he was accommodating. I know he wasn't lying, because I've met some of them!

15. I agree
this woman (me) wanted nothing to do with a sleaze. :puke: I wanted a nice guy and that is what I found, the nicest guy imaginable and we have been together 25 years. :-)

20. Sorry...

.... it took me 20 years to get that thru my head. Women are bored stiff by really good guys, and what they want intellectually and what they are actually attracted to bear little relationship to each other. Sure there are exceptions, I'm talking most women. IMHO :)

I should be clear, this all does depend on your definition of a "bad boy".

14. That's true
I don't approve of that behavior, but that is why men do it. There are a lot of jerks in the world.
Welcome to DU.

7. Internet anonymity brings out the beast in many a man
It's a tangent of the Freeper phenomenon - guys with no social skills seizing upon a chance to go obnoxious with no personal risk.

to you or to their faith, as all faiths say to treat each other with respect. You might want to remind them of this.

10. Is anything more of a turnoff
than sex talk in the first 1/2 hour?

Jeez.... I'd rather wait a few dates, at the very least, before even talking about sex.

There is much more to me than my private parts.

13. Exactly my point.
It's just inappropriate. Nothing I have said has worked as a deterrent, so I am simply leaving the site.

22. Bingo....
... you are probably right.

I think guys that behave that way are jerks.... BUT... IMHO if it didn't land them the occassional encounter they would not do it.

I know this is hard for some of you to believe.

21. Maybe you should contact the site admins,

and let them know of the people are abusing the service. If they run a worthwhile site, they'll want to get rid of such asses.

Believe it or not, If a woman did this to me, (I'm a man) I wouldn't respond either. I'd think it was either a man pretending to be a woman, or that she was up to something weird.

23. One would hope that wouldn't occur on a religious-based site, right?
That's pretty disheartening. If you don't want to mention the site here on a public board, could you PM me with its name? The reason I want to know is that I've recently signed up for an Internet matching service that I think is somewhat religious-based, and I want to be sure it's not the same one before I consider taking the discount renewal offer. Thanks.
