Ever seen those plastic surgery shows on Discovery Health?
I've shared before that I've lost a huge amount of weight, and I've done a bit of research into various plastic surgery procedures that would be good for me and my droopy, saggy bits.

These plastic surgery TV shows on Discovery Health (and I think there are one or two on Lifetime or TLC, too) follow people from consults to follow-ups. I wonder if they pay for the people's procedures? I wonder if any of those radical makeover TV shows that pay for procedures are still around? I'd think someone who has lost more than 230 lbs would be of interest to TV producers. Anyone have any insight into this?

2. I had plastic surgery....what they don't tell you...
It's been 2 years since I've had a tummy tuck. On TV they show you persons jogging, exercising after 3 to 4 weeks of the operation. That is not true. I spent my first 2 months at home almost immobile. Thank God, I don't have a job outside of my home, and my hub was the best nurse on earth. You come home with tubes inside and a person must drain those tubes 2, 3 times a day. And someone who helps you out of bed, feeds you, takes you to the bathroom, wipes your behind, helps you to walk around a few times a day. My health insurance also paid for my hospital bed. You must have a hospital bed at home or you will not be able to sleep or move at all.

Surgeons don't make house calls. Two days after my operation (spent just one night in special clinic), you must get yourself out of bed, hardly able to move and go see your surgeon. Take your pain killers or the car ride will kill you. Please don't ride in a truck, for sure it will kill you. Ask your doctor to give you medication for constipation. The pain medication will not allow you to have a bowel movement and when you try to, you will faint from the pain. My hub had to give me an enema.

You will not be able to walk upright for a couple of months. You wouldn't be able to sleep flat on your back..EVER. They never tell you this for sure. As you heal, your lower part of your stomach will feel as if you're carrying a watermelon inside or you feel like steel rods inside. Your new bellybutton will take the longest to heal. The bloating and swelling takes about 1 year to get rid of, but you will for ever have that watermelon feeling inside. They don't tell you this.

I didn't have an obese problem, I had an extended stomach caused by hormone therapy for hot flashes. For me, it was not worth it. For someone with severe problems who can have lots of personal attention after surgery, and a couple of months to spend healing, it is very much worth it. God Bless.
