here he is at yesterday's birthday party with his new favorite toy. I can't believe he's already 3. I still imagine him as a little squirming bundle of big eyes and long yawns in the hospital nursery.

Now he can do yard work Just like Papa!

7. what is it with kids and time accelleration?
I literally can't believe 3 years have gone by in what feel like three months. It's amazing, and scary. I better not blink too much or hell be grown before I know it.

4. It's a noble profession.
I had a friend who went to school for Landscape Architecture. I think some Ivy League schools teach it you liberal elitist/intelligentsia.

10. I'll have to get him started on Alexander Pope early
so he can avoid the rigid man-defeats-nature style of gardening that's becoming so popular.

Hey, anyone seen Timon's Villa?

11. I have five grand kits. 3 children
My kids grew up in lickety split time. My grandchildren I savor every min. I get to spend with them. If I have to travel 2500 miles to see them I do. Too bad gw doesn't have grandchildren maybe he would feel differently? NAW he wouldn't. It breaks my heart some days to look at them with their faces with smiles and tears but still feeling protected. What is going to happen to them? I wont live to see them finish college. But until then they will feel my love every day.

19. That's a great idea.
This year probably isn't going to be the fake, happy family picture for the Christmas cards.
We both thank you for the compliment. Actually, he looks more like me than the others I think. The rest seem to take after their dad more.
:hi:

22. How about this, I'll draw you an intepretation of that image
so you don't have to do the forced happy family card thing...

A nice line drawing of a boy asleep inside the train tracks in front of a christmas tree.

I can do it in software and post it here for you. Think of it as an early Solstice gift :)

What do you think?

17. Both boys are adorable
You need to make that picture into a Christmas Card. Photoshop it with a Christmas tree in the background and put a saying on the inside "May all your dreams come true Merry Christmas".

21.  awww, very cute little guys
They do grow fast. Mine is 8 now and will start third grade this year, and I can't believe it. Since the pre-teen years seem to start at 8 now, it is very interesting.

20. My first born is also named Ian..
.... and he recently turned 14. He's a great kid, even loves the same music I've loved over the years (thanks probably to the internet where he can read lots of people saying that Eno, Bowie, Crimson, etc rule, I know better than to try to get him to like anything :) ).

Yes, they grow up damn fast. And they amaze you with the insights they have.
