THOR!!! Norwegian takes 8th stage at Tour de France! Armstrong hangs.

Hushovd wins another at the Tour

http://www.velonews.com/tour2004/details/articles/6527.0.html

No changes in the General Classification as the leaders hung with the main peleton, though the rash of crashes continued. Tomorrow's a rest day, and they're off to the mountains this week, so, hopefully, we've seen the last of the group crashes.

As for Lance whining about wanting a time trial in the first week to thin the leaders out, I don't buy it. This is a race of many types of racing, and it's great that the tour mixes it up. If he wants to "thin out" the field, then he and Ullrich and company can go on their own breaks and work for it, just like Merckx and all the other greats used to do.

1. Armstrong is on drugs, has been since his cancer.....
the only problem is that he's famous, American and his drugs are legal. To win all the races, while on cancer treatment, only God can do it. Lance is no God and no winner. He's on drugs.

2. Huh? Winning races on cancer treatment?
He didn't win any Tours de France until after his cancer treatments were long finished.

3. You're saying
performance enhancing drugs?

I guess everyone else better use them too, since they are legal and all. :eyes:

4. And what category UCI racer are you?
How many stage races have you trained for?

Have you had chemo?

And for that matter, what drugs are you taking?

Yeah, pro and amateur cycling has a drug problem, so does baseball, football, basketball, and politics. Lance does not have a drug problem, but those who simply say it is impossible to be that good without performance enhancing drugs certainly have a problem as well.

6. Anyone else wonder if Voeckler is more dangerous than people think?
It's all just talk, of course, but this guy is young, doesn't know any better, and he can climb. Sure, I'm probably just trying to stir things up, but did Armstrong, Ullrich and Hamilton blow it by letting this guy go?

It would sure make the French happy.

8. Armstrong: The real Tour is coming up
http://www.velonews.com/tour2004/news/articles/6531.0.html

I've always wondered why they bother with rest days, since none of 'em rest anyway.

9. They really oughta call them
Today you only your teamates are trying to hurt you day.
They can't rest, they have to stay in a state of G.A.S. activation and enough metabolic stress.

They actually have to keep their bodies from trying too hard to repair itself. Otherwise they would really suffer the folling day.

It really deserves one three day rest in the middle of the Tour.

10. Yep, Thor is one strong bastard...

And damn sympathetic to boot, an emerging national hero over here. What a nice fellow. Best of luck to him.

Lance Armstrong will definitely win in the end, though. He's just way, way too strong going into the mountains. Drugged? Well, they've performed something like 200 tests on him in the last two years, and haven't caught him yet. So my verdict is not guilty. Until he is caught he's just a hell of a great athlete.

13. Yeah, I don't know why, but I love rooting for him.
I first noticed him in 2002. A bit slow on the uptake, but I was in grad school, so I didn't have time to keep up like usually do. I hope Thor picks up the Green Jersey, if not this year, then at some point in his career.

11. That final sprint was great
Saw it on TV, and it was incredible how fast he was able to go on the final meters.
