My wife and I met Alton Brown a few years ago. He was doing a meet and greet promotional for Comcast cable at an arts festival in Pontiac, Michigan. We chatted for a while; he was a very pleasant person.

4. The best cooking show on T.V. |
|
It's practical and witty at the same time. My mom made me watch it about two years ago and I've been hooked even since (my mommy always said if you know science, you can cook!) I guess that just proves my mom and I are geeks. But, really, it's nice to know the why and how behind different foods and techniques.

It's funny and informative, unlike many of the superstar chefs on Food Network, especially Emeril and Bobby Flay.

Alton Brown, Jamie Oliver, and *ahem* Rachael Ray are the best things about that network.
