Skinless Chicken
Why is skinless chicken cheaper? It takes effort to take the skin off, so you'd think skinless chicken would cost more. Not so! It actually costs less.

Skinless chicken is less greasy and has fewer calories. Maybe people are willing to pay more for chicken with the skin on because they fry it. I always roast it.

3. Nonstop Flights
Nonstop flights are often dramatically cheaper than flights where you hit Phoenix, Denver, St. Louis, and Atlanta.

4. Why do some store brands cost more than name brands?
I was going to buy some soup for my lunches for the week and the store brand "chunky" soup cost about 20 cents more than Campbells Chunky soup. And the Campbells was not on sale. I have noticed that on other items too. What the hell is up with that?

5. You're Paying Attention
If you're paying attention to prices, you're ahead of the game. One of the tricks my local market plays is to put one flavor on sale, and splash the word SALE around. You think you're getting $5 ice cream for $2.50, but that's for vanilla, not chocolate.

I've also noticed that margarine is sometimes more expensive than butter. Go figure.

6. Wal Mart "Great Value"
Much of Wally World's store brand generic items are more expensive than the national brands. You have to pay attention to the cost per ounce/lb and the sale prices on national brands. As an example, here locally, Kraft BBQ sauce is less per bottle than their Great Value equivalent.
