A local paper's article on ME!
Edited on Thu Aug-28-03 02:03 AM by wheresthemind
"From his white house to Washington's?

Inspired by Paul Wellstone's death, 16-year-old Alex Cutler is pouring himself into a 2004 presidential campaign

Alex Cutler lives in a large white house featuring a prominent rose garden. Some might consider that common stuff for a Tangletown kid; others might think it's a sign of things to come for this 16-year-old, who's one of the first Minnesotans to join the Dennis Kucinich presidential campaign. "

This was so amazing! What and article huh?

On the cover of the paper they have a picture of me and the headline "A living Wellstone Memorial". I nearly sobed I was so honored.

Oh and one correction is I never shoot "Tourists" online... just "Terrorists"!

I also got an e-mail from our Minneapolis Mayor, R.T. Ryback, congratulating me on this!

I'm still in shock!

Amazing... What you guys think?

1. Alex I am your age and you should be proud of yourself
I wish I could be organized as you are. That said lets fullfill our dreams and elect Dennis. Also looking at my email today, I noticed that Dennis supports repealing the Cuba embargo. This man never ceases to make me proud.

4. youre a good guy leftcoast
There are some people out there who say oh Kucinich doesnt have a chance. If Dean can emerge from the shadows I say we can do the same thing and more, its only August and I look forward to Dennis being president and a rising star in the party. He has such a great heart and he is in a way the ripple of hope Bobby Kennedy talked about.

7. We need some hope!
I remember when Clinton was first elected, everybody would say "Wow! The light's back on at the end of the tunnel!" I know for a fact that nobody could have imagined how black that tunnel could be. Anybody who brings hope to the Democratic Party is ok with me. I'll also say this, DK fights. He's a true Dem. We could use a lot more like him.

Your activism is honorable and you came across well in the article. They didn't portray you as an idealistic kid but as a person of principle.

Thank you for working for what you believe in. I was indoctrinated into politics and had a keen sense of social justice at a very young age due to my father's work. I also was the maverick at the private school...so reading your story brought up shades of my own past.

Congratulations. I never realized you were in high school when reading your posts. I feel better about my own future now.

Thanks.

9. Alex, you inspire me and give me hope.
It's so encouraging to see that young Americans are actively participating in the electoral process.

There is nothing more patriotic than the active participation in government.

Kudos to you. You deserved that excellent spotlight.

ps - keep up with the improv; I think it would be good training for thinking on your feet, and make you more potent in future political activities, debate-wise.

14. What a well-written story
on an amazing young man. You have a great story to tell and the reporter did an excellent job in conveying a sense of you.

This line gave me a chuckle:
"At the end of the meeting, he said, 'Other kids have wild parties; I just have political meetings when the folks are away.' It was really cute."

Keep up the great work and we're counting on you to have a loud and strong voice in the future.

Or if you would like a middle aged geek trying to affect the lingo of people half his age (and displaying in glaring lights his geekness).

"Dude, you rock".

<middle aged geek holds up hand with pinkie and index finger extended, and starts the headbanger head-shaking>

OK, I'll stop now... It gave me a headache...

>>Suddenly, I saw the world as a very different place and knew I had to play a role to make it better.<<

Now that's an inspiring vision! I especially appreciate your commitment to fairness and social justice -- looks like there's a little more light in the USA today, and a little less darkness. I think Senator Wellstone would be delighted.

We're all proud of you (and all the other 'younger' activists here at DU)! Your story made my day!

:kick:

edit: that would be activists (plural)
