1. I was a much better runner than I actually was

When I graduated from high school, I held the cross country record and 3200m record for girls at my school. I was one of the area's best high school runners. I had a number of fans too.
Some of these fans evidently thought that I was a lot better than I was. I was rumored to run 10 miles everyday at a time where I was only running about 6. I was rumored to a mile a full minute faster than I did. I was faster than all the guys on the cross country team. I ran a marathon just for fun with the assistant cross country coach and beat him (an experienced marathon runner). I was also probably going to the Olympic trials.
Unfortauntely these things weren't true. I am not sure where they got those ideas.

2. There were people here who thought I stalked another DUer

that I had a friendship with off DU, but we were just private about our friendship. Another thought I was buddies with a tombstoned DUer who stalked her. Anyone who knows me knows I'm about as lethal a bunny rabbit.

In ancient history, back in high school, I remember finding out a year after I moved there, the entire school thought I was "stuck up". Totally not, just reserved most of the time.

3. "Her father molested her."

The person's reasoning went like this, as near as I can figure:

"I've never seen her hanging all over a guy in public and making a fool of herself like I do with my boyfriend," ergo "She's never even been kissed," which leads me to conclude that "She hates men," which must surely be due to "Her father molested her."

All of the above being patently false, but I found it vastly amusing. Well, okay, I really have never hung all over a guy in public and made a fool of myself, but the rest of it is patently false....

4. People at work think that I am having/had an affair

With my friend who used to work there. They can't believe that a man and a woman can be good friends without having sex.

6. Back in junior high & high school

People used to start rumors that I was a lesbian all the time. Of course back then all you say in response to these things is "AM NOT!!" :D

Funny, how they knew so long before I did... :shrug:

7. Conflicting workplace rumors:

1) That I was gay, and

2) that I was schtupping my boss. My boss and I were of opposite sexes.

I didn't especially object to either rumor, but I found it a curious combination.

Also, after both rumors died out, I started schtupping my boss. :evilgrin:

8. There was a rumor around my town that I was a cocaine dealer

And since then all my friend's call me the dealer.

My friend's ex-boyfriend started this rumor and come to find out in the months after he broke up with my friend, he started selling coke.
