1. Glad you are working now
and six months here. Being unemployed sucks, but being underemployed may be worse.

I went through a stretch of just over a year
when my work hours(as a subcontracto - work or don't get paid) fluctuated between 10-100 hours a month. Its tough to get by on 10 hours a month with a family. Though i guess that's the type of throw-away economy that Bush wants. Pay people when you feel like and give them no benefits. Only the rich can afford those things. They say to amurika "go cheney yourself"

2. 6 months
but mostly because at the time I had money in the bank and was lazy. Did not collect unemployment or anything though. Ironically, that period came to a halt when my company gave me my job offer on September 10, 2001, the day before everyone ELSE seemed to begin losing their jobs...

4. 49 Months As Of The End Of June - Over 2,000 Resumes Out The Door
Nada!

Qualifications:
BSEE
MBA
Commercial Pilot
Honorably Discharged Veteran

See the following chart from the Dallas Federal Reserve to see how Texas cities have faired over the last four years. I live in Dallas. Note how Dallas has not reached the level of employment last seen since the beginning of 2000. Jobs here are very hard to find.

5. Never
But then again, I scrubbed toilets in the homes of a couple of friends and acquaintances and then graduated to waiting tables in a yacht club. It really sucked, but it does teach you humility and respect.

6. 3 weeks if part time work counts
4 months underemployed.
I wasn't employed most of high school, but I chose to concentrate high school studies and activities that would get me into a good college instead of trying to fit work into my busy schedule.

Not counting a few temp jobs and a p-t job I had where I made very little and collected some uneployment ins. This was back in the last recession, under Bush 1.

9. My wife took 2-1/2 years off,
when our daughter was born. After that amount of time, she needed to spend some time away from her and with adults. I think it was great for our daughter that she was able to do that, even though it meant a financial sacrifice.

10. 3 years, 9 mo. from 1990 - 1994
Not by choice.

Not because I was having kids.

Because I graduated college in the depth of the Bush I Recession. The McDonald's in my town wouldn't even take applications because they had two years worth of them already.

If my parents hadn't taken me in, I would have been homeless.

Being a freelance musician, I've heard "When are you going to get a real job more times than I care to think about!

I guess they figure "playing" an instrument is like "playing" games...

15. 6.5 months this year alone..........................
Working a 3-4 month job here in town (lucked out, normally I have to travel to digs). My attempts to secure permanent employment here in Morgantown has netted nada! So I'm good through Oct, maybe Nov.; after that its scaryville again, unless something breaks loose.

My heart goes out to those who are still under/unemployed. Keep the faith, things will get better soon (they have to, they can't get any worse).
