When you order food/drinks...
What specifications are there? I'm always extra ice, and if I'm ordering a burger, no pickles(I love pickles, just not on my burgers). I like my meat medium. I'm just curious because I have a problem at Sonic(local drive in restaurant) getting extra ice(even when I pay for it), and I'm trying to get my mind off of being annoyed.

1. I like my salad dressing on the side
(so they don't drown it - yuch!)

That's the main one.

Sometimes I like ask to substitute things.

6. I'm also for dressing on the side
I actually like very little ice in my drinks and find it very annoying that that instruction is frequently ignored. Two slurps and the whole glass is gone. :-(

Recently it seems bartenders erroneously think an order for an extra dry martini means lots of vermouth instead of very little.

11. Me too.
I tend to be a well-done person too. Except for steaks, then it's medium well.

2. I like just a little ice
no pickles on my burgers. Steak cooked medium. When I get subs I like extra condiments on them. At Taco Bell I like extra sour cream on my burrito. That's about it I guess.

3. Hm...I'm not picky about my drink
(although in more than one location I've had to specify red Zinfandel :eyes:).

Medium rare is my default doneness request (medium for burgers).

I wonder if extra ice makes dispensing drinks more difficult -- fast-food places usually have drink dispensers that automatically spit out a small, medium, etc. and stop right at the top of the cup, assuming the right amount of ice was added.

Wow that seems like the last place you'd have problems. They always seem so friendly (here, anyway).

9. No tomatoes
There have only been a couple times there have been problems, like the time that I got my sandwich with only the meat and tomato, after I ordered it that way.

10. I like extra ice in my Sonic drinks too
I got tired of trying to get extra ice IN my drink and just started ordering an additional cup of ice and add it to my drink. Have you tried that? (Of course, sometimes they can't get that right either.)

As far as ordering food, if I order scrambled eggs, bacon and hashbrown type breakfast, I always ask for my food well done. Got tired of rubbery bacon, runny eggs and white mushy hashbrowns. Actually seems to work.

My daughter always has to order a side of bbq sauce for her fries.

That's all I can think of for now.

13. If it is busy, they might have a hard time accomodating you
When I worked fast food, sometimes it was difficult to honor customers instructions about ice in the drive thru. When it was busy, a different person got drinks than the person continually taking orders. There was no button on the cash register for no ice or extra ice. There were a number of cars between the ordering customer and the customer getting their order.
It's hard to be a fast food worker sometimes. Try to be understanding.
Btw:Our manager always wanted us to use lots of ice. Ice is cheaper than soda.

16. subs
Always like extra ice in my Coke. On subs I like oil and vinegar AND mayo... for some reason that request always draws funny looks...

19. Welcome to DU, DemWitch
I like oil, vinegar, and mayo on my subs too. Unless I get a roast beef sub. Then I like oil, vinegar and extra spicy mustard.

25. Me too!
But I hate garlic so I certainly don't mind not having it. It just makes it difficult to eat out, because garlic is put in almost everything these days.

26. Yeah, it can be a drag....
... I can eat trace amounts (like in most pizza sauce) unless I'm already "sensitized".

I have found that Chinese and Italian are not a problem if you ask them about garlic... contrary to popular belief they don't put it in everything :)

I checked into getting treatment for it a long time ago, my allergist said he wouldn't treat garlic allergies, some kind of "toxicity problem". Sigh.

28. I know I'm weird, but...
the only condiment on my burger is ketchup. Although I work at Steak n Shake, and I get a lot of weird orders. The other day someone asked us if we could make a triple shake (as opposed to the new side-by-sides)
