Last political book you read? |
|
2/3rds of the way through House of Bush, House of Saud now, after finishing Against All Enemies.
After that, it's on to The Politics of Truth, then if I get it for my birthday Thursday (I've dropped enough hints), My Life.
Wonk, wonk, wonk...

I plan on buying "The Republican Noise Machine" as soon as I can scrounge up some scratch for it...I think it's like $28, I might have to wait until it comes out in paperback

5. "Last Train From Berlin" by Howard K. Smith... |
|
...yes, the late ABC news reporter. Tremendous insight into the normal lives of Germans under Nazi rule in the years leading up to Pearl Harbour...chilling how Fascists do things in much the same way, with much the same goals, both then and now.

9. "Worse than Watergate" by Dean |
|
Good book, but I think I'm getting to the point of Bush saturation. Not much was new to me. It was presented in a nice way, but I started getting bored near the end as the feeling of "read that, knew that" started to overwhelm my reading.

Dean just didn't have the humor or that unique of a style to hold my interest in the last 30 or so pages. I skimmed them, of course, but not much new there.
He did a great job with the footnoting for the book, so I'll keep it around so that I'll be able to find the original sources of certain articles. In that regard, I'm not unhappy that I bought and read it.

He's a very impressive speaker and he makes a very good case for the arguments in his book. He was also very comprehensive and helpful when answering questions. He autographed my "Worse Than Watergate" copy

Until I read it I honsestly thought that the WTO/WorldBank/IMF stuff was just a bunch of conspiracy BS. Man, was I ever wrong.
I've given the book to my friend and my mother. Now they're coming up to me and saying things like "Y'know, maybe those guys in Seattle weren't just a bunch of crazy hippies."
