Gamblers starting to lean towards dems... |
|
The site at which I gamble has futures market on the US election. When they first put it out,Repug shares sold at $60 and Dems @ $40....currently repug shares are valued at $53 and Dems @ $51....damn it should have bought those cheap dem shares at $40....still a good deal, buy now at $51 and pays $100 for every share you hold when Kerry wins!!!

I'd put money on Bush, simply for a consolation prize. If you lose the money but win the election, you really don't care. Not that I have any money to play around with like that.

4. Some May Be Buying Bush* Futures as Relocation Insurance |
|
to pay their resettlement costs in another country if * steals it again.
Recent events call that strategy into question.
What happens to the futures if Bush* cancels the elections? Does that count as a "win" for * or a washout where everybody gets their money back?
"Postponed indefinitely" would be the more sticky scenario, since they may want to hold all the bets as long as they keep promising to hold elections some day.

5. That's what I did in 2000 |
|
I wagered $1600 to win $1000 on Bush with an offshore outfit about a week before the election. Then I spent an entire month desperate to forfeit that $2600, especially since I'm in an election pool with 15 other guys and had picked Gore to win in the pool, both Florida and the election. The SCOTUS theft cost me much more in the election pool than $2600.

6. Not so, offshore money has been coming in on Bush |
|
I just checked odds at a half dozen major betting outfits for the first time in a month. Virtually every one has tilted slightly toward the Republican ticket since I last looked.
In June, for example, Ladbrokes listed the Republicans at -140 and Kerry at Even Money. Tonight, Bush is up 10 cents, to -150 while Kerry is available at plus money, +110. In other words, bet 100 to win 110, much better than 51 to win 49 as listed atop this thread. Another offshore outfit I use has Kerry at +120, 100 to win 120.

look how Bush is giving out good things for his base right now. Firm up election in his base and maybe to get every thing he can before he goes down.
