Neil Pert is one of the greatest drummers of all time, IMHO... :P

1. When I read the title, I thought of a different "Rush".

4. By the way...have you heard the new one yet ?
I understand it's a cover of "songs that influenced them" before they formed the band. The covers are played straight forward, without much artistic embelishment.

When I first heard "Summertime Blues" from the disc I was thinking.."Oh boy, a Who song, big deal".

I was THRILLED to hear, instead, a close copy of the Blue Cheer version !
It made a lot sense that they would pick that Blue Cheer as an influence, as they were both power trios.

I haven't heard anything else, though. Gotta get it.

5. No, not yet
I'm strapped for cash right now, or I'd have it now; it's an interesting concept, and I can't wait to listen. I've been listening to "Roll The Bones" all day, so I'm in a Rush state of mind

6. Yikes.
I grew out of art rock bands before I graduated high school.

No offense.

8. How can you grow out of music?
If I like a band, I like it; I can understand some things, like growing out of pop music, but music that has incredible musical talent and vision, at least for me, never gets old. I can not and will not grow out of Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, Rush, Yes, etc. FYI, I DO listen to other music as well. Not trying to be hostile here, but what music did you start listening to, then?

11. That was when rap really started to break
So I got into Public Enemy and such, and then into soul and alternative music. "Art rock" can be a bit eggheaded and impersonal, which is what I meant by "growing out of it". I like my tunes soulful and honest and personal, which is often the antithesis of those types of artists.

Like I said, no offense meant.

12. Sorry if I seemed hostile
I like some bands based on lyrics/message, like RATM, SOAD, Dead Kennedys, Type O Negative, Dream Theater, The Who, Bob Marley, etc. But I am a musician, so I also listen to bands for the musical skill, like Rush, Primus, Phish, Tool, A Perfect Circle, etc. And I just plain can't get why I like techno
