Moments when you wish you had better friends....

Being sun poisoned reminded me of an old event in my life. One which I'm glad to have survived.

A group of my friends were going to a Marilyn Manson show in Ohio (I'm in Indianapolis) and we had to stop and get some gas.

Picture this: 6 young adults at a truck stop in the heart of red-neck rural Indiana -- all dressed in black....and the men were wearing more make-up than the women. Mucho pentagrams all over our outfits.

Being one of the smarter members of our crew (knowing that we had to get in and get out as quickly as possible), I went in, asked for the key to the bathroom (remembering to say "Sir" as often as I could) and went to use the facilities.

I'm in the bathroom for something like 3 minutes and I come out and one of our group (I'll refer to him as "Stupid Fuck" or SF for short) is now talking to a group of gathered truck drivers.

As I walk up to the car, I hear him say "Not only are we gay, we're Satanists. Wanna fuck with us?" Evidently the truckers were more concerned about who we were fucking than who we worshiped. (Nice RW prioritizing there.)

Now this kid is about 16 years old and weighs maybe 97.9 pounds. He's not even a 98 pound weakling. None of us were what you would call "Satanists"...maybe a few of us would count as Wiccans, but that's besides the point.

Having grown up on in the rural areas of my beloved state, I immediately detect the vibes of "We're going to send this group into the hospital."

I managed (don't ask me how) to break up the two groups (using "Sir" again) and we all got in our car and left. Luckily, we were near the border, so the convoy of trucks that started to follow us had to stop.

After that, I swore I'd never hang out with idiots who provoke fights again.

4. I am doing really well.

Busy. Painting alot. Will came up last weekend and we went to F911...his fourth time, my first. We spent most of the weekend talking politics...it's all pent up in me! I also volunteered to work for Swingthevote here in Keene. You need to be good and to be here more often! :love:

But she wanted to see F9/11 on her own. It just goes to show you that once people have their minds open a lot of changes will follow.

I MIGHT...just might, be able to make the GOP Con. It will depend on by health though. I found out that my BP is horribly high. I mean REALLY high. I know they're shutting down most of NY for the con, so I'd have to walk all over the place, and I'm not sure that it would be good for me in my current condition.

I hate talking about health problems, but the numbers on my last BP reading were really bad. BAD bad. BAD BAD bad. I was told that they're surprised I'm still walking about.

(I've been heavy most of my life, but my BP has always been low. I don't know what changed, but it's really worrisome now. Man, I hate aging.)

I'm 120 pounds and mine would be high if I didn't take meds for it. Are you taking something? If not, you should look into it. Sonetimes it runs in families..like choleresteral.

6. I had a vaguely similar experience

I was on high street in Columbus, Ohio, on a Friday night, which means a shitload of drunks. Some friends and I happened upon some guys who used to go to my high school. They walked with us way up north, til we were in some not-so-pleasant neighborhoods. We wanted to turn back, but one guy wanted to go on up to a bar. Anyway, we were standing there deciding where to go when a drunk guy, who happened to be black, yelled at us to get out of his way (we were standing on a sidewalk). So one of the guys we had met, who was visiting Columbus from my redneck town, yelled "Fuck off nigger." The four of us who were living in Columbus stared at each other and started backing away, but this kid keeps yelling shit; we eventually dragged him away, and got the hell out of there. I mean, fuck, not only was it plain embarrassing to be around someone yelling it, but it was downright DANGEROUS. Racial slurs + alcohol = doubleplusungood
