Poll question: "Traditional Marriage"
So I've been watching Senators wring their hands about traditional marriage in this country. :eyes:

I thought it'd be interesting to see who's got one, or had one. For the purposes of this poll, we're talking about the state-sponsored thing, so if you're livin' in sin, you don't get to call yerself "married". :silly:

1. First and only marriage, but it's "open". How do you classify that?

6. First marriage, I guess its traditional
We don't have children yet but we have a dog. I suppose that it is not traditional though because I make more money than my husband. Our house is a mess because we both hate to clean too.

9. Personally I find the phrase "traditional marriage" offensive...
Edited on Tue Jul-13-04 06:44 PM by VelmaD
in the extreme. Last time I checked "traditional" marriages included such lovely "traditions" as forced marriage, non-consensual polygyny, marrying underage girls off to men old enough to be their father, wife-beating, and treating women like property. I think I'll pass thanks all the same. :eyes:

12. It's interesting
I was married to my ex-wife... legally for a grand total of 5 months, and I have to fill in the divorced block on forms. We owned no real property, had no kids (or pets for that matter), and the only marital property to split up was easy, she took the Mustang, I took the Gran Torino. Our families despised each other and never spoke once, not even at the wedding.

But I was with my ex-husband (lover, partner whatever) for 11 1/2 years, but no one seems to count that even though we owned several income properties, our own house, 7 vehicles (2 cars, 2 trucks, one motorcycle, one motorhome, one party barge), and four pets. Our families spent all the holidays with us together, and were more upset about our breakup than he or I were.

Now which "marriage" was more of a marriage?

13. First marriage for us both, 28 years, 4 kids
And both called and e-mailed my senators to tell them to stop wasting time on a stupid attempt to add discrimination to the Constitution.
