All-star game predictions?
Edited on Tue Jul-13-04 05:07 PM by Bombtrack
This is a tough one to call tonight. McKeon made the right decision to not put a leftie on the mound(most of the other top pitchers in the NL are lefties) as the AL starting Linup will just EAT up a leftie. Unfortunatly I think Torrie made a mistake in going with Mulder as the NL lineup is likely to do the same thing with almost all players who hit way better against Lefties in the starting lineup(Bonds hit's worse against them, a pathetic 330 or so).

One thing going for the Al is speed. Most of the bottom half of the linup and the leadoff and second man can run(plus Carl Crawford on the bench), Only Renteria has really fast legs on the NL of players that come to mind.

Also, hasn't Clemens choked more often than not in his marathon of big games of late(last season)

1. AL wins it 8-6
Alex Rodriguez named MVP after a three-run home run in the fifth inning.

2. I think there's a chance A-Rod might not even start
I heard one report a couple days ago that he opted out and then nothing after that.

3. That's why it's a fifth inning blast
He could come off the bench and hit a bomb!

5. I'm betting against it
I bet $50 to win $60 that scott rolen will have more total bases than Arod in this game. Arod was going at -150. Rolen is the best player in the NL at the moment(Bonds doesn't count...he is from another planet)....although he's been slumping of late....Awesome hitter and mind-blowing fielder.

7. Bud Selig will piss off baseball fans.....
Okay that one was way too easy.

The AL keeps up its dominance in a homer happy game, 12-8 final score.

10. Surpisingly, the game is all "small ball" and the NL wins 4-3 in 10.
Pitching will dominate the first 7 innings. 1-1 after 7. A player from the AL comes off the bench and homers to make it 3-1 AL. In the 9th the NL "small balls" it to a 3-3 tie. Then in the 10th, after 2 walks, Mark Loretta comes off the bench and doubles home the winning run.
Final, NL 4 - AL 3.

11. One team will win. One will lose. All players in both teams get big $...
All stupid enough to buy tickets will be shelling out hundreds...

Then comes the horrid junk food...

They can have it.

13. I don't know what will happen,
But I'm pretty sure I won't care.

I'm a pretty big baseball fan, but the All-Star game and all it's bogus trappings (eg - the corked bat HR derby) are about the most boring thing EVER.

15. MLB will announce that it's postponing a decision on moving the Expos...
until 2008. Until then, the team will revert to old-style uniforms and be renamed the Barnstormers, with no home games whatsoever.
