2. Only if the number is great enough that it's questionable that the cats...
are leading a decent life.

Cats are basically like human beings, in that they want some decent grub (and not to go without), space to be able to move around in, a clean litterbox, something to do, and a fair amount of loving attention. Spaying/neutering is a must, also.

If a working single person says that he has, say, 27 cats in his apartment, chances are that the quality of life for those animals is highly compromised.

On the other hand, if a family of five in a large semi-rural home has 27 spayed/neutered cats, and was diligent about taking care of their pets, chances are that such a large number of cats would be okay.

3. Only when they have enough to land on the news
And that's only because they can't handle them....

We went a few years without cats...never again!

14. Good call!
I'm wary of having "too many," but I love my kitties. Our current population of two will double at the end of August when we get two Siamese female kittens. I've never had four cats before, so it'll be interesting...and wonderful!

9. I think it's in the DU FAQ
"While in the Lounge, you are obligated to reply to any feline or cat-related posts."
Or something to that effect.

11. My family used to run a cattery
Edited on Tue Jul-13-04 07:39 PM by khephra
there was a time when we have 40 cats in the house at one time.

We were also getting paid thousands of $$$ for the cats, so it was worth the hassle.
