I just watched "Irreversible" and I'm gobsmacked. Ask me anything!

2. French film from 2002

It unspools in reverse, much like "Memento". It examines a day (and night) in the life of a Parisian couple. Basically, something really Cheney-ed up happens to the woman (Monica Bellucci) and her partner (Vincent Cassel) seeks revenge.

It's probably the most difficult film I've ever sat through

Difficult as in disturbing, or as in dull?

4. Disturbing....very disturbing

There are two scenes of graphic violence which are really in a class by themselves in terms of brutality portrayed onscreen. Since they take place in the first half of the film (the end in real time), you spend the rest of the film in a kind of daze.

It's also shot in a herky-jerky style with lots of flourishes and sweeps. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea (especially if you've been the victim of an assault), but I must say it's a powerful film. I read an interview with the director where he said (I'm paraphrasing) that he intentionally made the violence so intense so that if a viewer turns away, it's akin to a bystander walking away from an assault in progress.

was in it. There was absolutely nothing sexy about it. :scared:

Did NOT mean to imply I thought it was sexy. I almost turned the DVD off. Very brutal scene.
