My vacation in bizarro world
I am currently down at the Jersey shore with my wife & son, my mother and father-in-law, and my niece and nephew. As many of you know, my wife and I decided to get divorced about a month ago, but we have not told any close family members yet. We particularly did not want to ruin this vacation for my in-laws (we have had it planned and paid for this months ago).

So I'm here on what is definitely our last vacation together as a family. My father-in-law adores me, and wants to stay up late drinking with me every night. I'm the kids' favorite, too. In fact, as I'm typing this, they are begging me to play a game with them.

This all feels so strange, like I'm drifting through a life that is no longer my own. Next week, we will tell our families the truth, and many lives will change. But for now, I'm spending my vacation pretending that everything's fine.

So how's everyone else's week going? :-)

1. I've had a migraine off and on for nine days now
So, I'd say our lives are on somewhat of a parallel track.;)

Hope things work out for you soon, Finn.

5. They will be settled pretty soon.
It's difficult to wait for my old life to be over, but I'm excited for a new life to begin after that.

I hope your head feels better!

8. So sorry for your troubles
Things do have a way of working themselves out, though - believe me.

And congrats on your 13 years of sobriety - that's something to really be proud of.

13. It must be rough to be on vacation under those conditions
however it is very considerate of you to continue through with these plans. Although its none of my beeswax I hope you had some counselling before ariving at the decision.

14. I sympathize...no, I empathize...but I can't help but think...
..instead of typing on DU (which we do appreciate) you should be making notes for a play or screenplay. This is the kind of scenario you could possibly pitch to the right people and make a small fortune. Sorry, but I seem to be in a mercenary mood tonight...must be the flu.
