I just did something very, very stressful |
|
I've filed for custody of my daughter (long story, suffice to say I'm 90% sure I'll be winning).
The ex wants to fly my daughter back to Florida (we're in San Diego) next week. While the custody hearing is still up in the air.
I went to the courthouse today to file for a restraint order, so Cassie can't leave the state until the custody hearing is finalised.
I had to give my ex 24 hour notice of the actual hearing (Thursday morning) by phone tonight.
She started off being very congenial about the whole custody thing (which surprised me), but got really worked up when she found out I wasn't letting my daughter go just yet.
I hate, hate, hate talking to her in the best of situations. But a stressful situation like this...

1. Good luck and best wishes! |

It sucks that many courts will award (funny word, "award") custody to the mother, based on little other than having a uterus. I'm sorry that you're having to go that route.

Do you think she was cooking something up? I don't envy you, but from what I remember of your previous posts, sounds like you're doing the right thing by your daughter. Hang in there, guy.

6. I'm not sure if she was cooking up something or not |

But I learned, the hard, brutal way, not to trust her. Years ago.
She's acting like she'll abide by the court's decision, no problem, etc.
But I dunno. For instance, she had 20 days to say something about my registering the divorce here in California, and she made no response. As of today (22 days of the thirty she has) she's made no response to the actual filing for custody.
She claims she's "sent her response". Then again, she claimed she sent the ticket for my daughter 2 weeks ago.
I'm just hoping no response shows up through next Wednesday. If she hasn't responded by then, I file for a default judgement.

Take care
