An Edmond man was taken by Mediflight to University Hospital at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday evening after an apparent self-inflicted injury involving a fish aquarium, police officials said Monday.
The man apparently put his head through a fish tank at his home, then staggered down the street, where he was spotted by a neighbor who alerted authorities, Glynda Chu, spokeswoman for the Edmond Police Department, said Monday. He was treated by Edmond Fire and EMSA personnel outside a home at 509 W. First, where he was reported to be “semiconscious and combative,” according to an Edmond Fire Department report.
Rescue workers had to move the man a short distance from the neighborhood by ambulance to the helicopter, which landed in a field on the southwest corner of Edmond Road and Fretz. Traffic on Edmond Road was blocked for a time to allow the helicopter to land.
