At first glance, the roster of candidates running to represent Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate seem to live in traditional places, but one candidate listed the Greyhound Bus Lines station in Green Bay, 800 Cedar St., as his residence.
Eugene A. Hem is running as an independent for the office currently held by U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, and according to the roster of registered candidates from the Wisconsin State Elections Board, Hem lives at 800 Cedar St., Green Bay, WI 54301 - the bus station.
Kevin Kennedy, executive director of the Wisconsin State Elections Board, said Hem has run for public office before. Once Hem ran for state superintendent of public instruction. He has run for other partisan offices as well, he said.
"I don't see this as an impediment to him getting his name on the ballot," Kennedy said of the discovery Hem listed a bus station as his residence.
According to the Constitution, a candidate can run for the Senate if he or she is at least 30 years old, is a U.S. citizen for nine years and is an inhabitant of the state in which he or she is seeking to represent.
