Fox to dumb down America even more with the Fox Reality Channel
http://abcnews.go.com/wire/Entertainment/ap20040713_1408.html

NEW YORK July 13, 2004 — Fox is planning to start the Fox Reality Channel early next year, perhaps moving to the front of the suddenly crowded sweepstakes of networks looking to capitalize on the format.
The new network will air a mix of original series and reruns of series like "Joe Millionaire" and "Temptation Island."

1. I hate to say it, but Reality TV is a signal that the end is nigh
There is something SO ROMAN, so obscene and sci-fi nightmarish about it that I cannot articulate in words why.

But I'll bet ProfessorGAC or a sociologist could...

4. Further dumbing down - would be redundant, wouldn't it?
We are already living in the land of the Lowest Common Denominator -

Another reason my video viewing device stays off, dark and cold.

gathering dust,

I love it when cable sales reps are not able to grasp that for me, no TV is a good thing. The skelly goblin in my closet is a degree from the Univ ot Texas in Radio Television Film.

9. I still rent movies
and watch the Simpsons... but after that, how enjoyable is it getting hosed down by garbage and lies?

I read instead -

7. It's not just FOX
All of the networks have shows the insult the intelligence and every single one of them has at least one reality show that is totally debasing in nature.

I refuse to hold FOX solely responsible for the decline of the cultural outlook of the USA.

10. I'm still waiting for "Trista and Ryan's Divorce"
in which the network (ABC, in this instance) pays Raoul Felder or the equivalent to help Trista take Ryan to the cleaners (did they have a dog? They could get a whole episode out of the "dog fight").

14. "Fox" and "Reality" should never appear in the same sentence.
When I moved recently, I stuck my TV set in a box and put it in the basement. And I plan to leave it there!
