I have five bucks. What should I have for dinner? |
|
I have PBJ, no bread, plenty of cereal, no milk, and one bagel. Please tell me how to creatively spend my five bucks to have a tasty meal. And Fast food is not out. Choices include: Arby's, KFC, McDonald's, Sonic and Subway. Duckie

I would buy a small carton of milk and the cheapest bag of sugar. In my area, this would be less than $3. I would put toast the bagel, put the PBJ on it, put sugar and milk on the cereal. If cash allowed, I would also purchase a small banana or ripe peach and cut it up to put on the cereal.

12. Buy one pound of Chopped Sirloin, a large onion and |
|
some sourdough bread or buns. Make a large steakburger sandwich with sliced onion. The catch is you'll have to cook it yourself. A side benefit is that it is good for 2 or 3 servings. Eating at home is way cheaper and healthier.

You should be able to get both for five bucks if you're willing to settle for canned sauerkraut.

20. Go to the grocery and get |
|
some rice (not instant), some frozen mixed veggies, some garlic powder. Get the big chunky veggies like brocolli and caulifower, at such.
Put 1/3 cup of rice in a pan and add 2/3 cup of water plus a tad extra. Stir in some garlic powder, and dump in about 1 cup of frozen mixed veggies. Bring to a boil on high heat, then reduce heat to a simmer and cover. Set the timer for 23 minutes and when it dings, scoop it all into a bowl and enjoy a very low fat, low calorie high fiber yummy and good-for-you meal.
(If you're into the low carb thing you're probably going to die of ketosis shock in the next two days anyway so either don't bother eating now, or start loading up on health-giving carbs right now before you drop dead!)

25. Check your local grocery ads, |
|
and see if anybody has cheap chicken leg quarters. You may be able to purchase a package of 4-5 leg quarters for around $3. Add salt and pepper and grill those babies. With your remaining money, purchase some nice fresh green produce, and/or some sweet potatoes.
