In June, as I was getting ready for my wedding, my son showed me how to download a few songs for the wedding reception. After I had finished, I said, hey, wait a minute, how can I have done that??? I thought you could not anymore. I called my son. He said they prosecute the people who put the files out to be shared with others, giving the music away, (which I did NOT do), not the people who take the copies. (Like prosecuting the prostitute and not the john!)
I decided I don't like this and won't do it again.
BUT....I paid a price and could have lost my computer in the process. Along with the music, I got two worms...blasterworm and I forget the other one's name. It took me an entire weekend to clear my files, sweating and hoping not too much damage was done. These worms are not transmitted via bulk emails, they can't be. But it must have happened while I downloaded music, because that is all I ever downloaded. I just got this computer in May. IT AIN"T WORTH IT!!!

That's were I get mine. Not a lot of selection, but there's so much traffic, the music Nazis can't do anything about it. Oops. I forgot. It's not free. Ten bucks a mounth. But you can get audio books, and vidios, and lots of porn too.

EasyNews.com into your browser. You can buy a three day pass for one dollar. Later, if you like it you can get a news reader like Agent or XNewes to read text groups. A lot of neat shit there too.

25. I just thought of something. |

You might get free groups from your ISP. If you use Outlook, open it, click on Mail. The drop down should say, Read News. Click it. A window will open and ask if you want to download a list of groups. Click yes. If it works, you should get between 20 and 30,000 groups. Good luck.

6. I use Rhapsody Player.. |
|
It's $10 a month flat rate to listen to any music they have online as much as you want.. and .80 cents per song to burn them to CD..
I spend quite a bit of time online so I think it's worth it.. and I've discovered some really good music through it..

10. Some people--I won't say who--have private p2p networks. |
|
And they basically use a closed system to trade music between themselves.

it's free, and I've had no problems so far. Of course, what I like to download are obscure oldies that nobody cares about anyway.

23. Just be very careful not to allow people to access your computer. |
|
The minute you are identified as sharing copyrighted material, the RIAA will be on your ISP's ass like Gen. Boykin on Jasmine.
