US Capitol turning into a Baghdad-like Green Zone

I just saw the CBS evening news segment on the wall(s) going around the Capitol buildings and monuments.

Bush is turning Washington into a fortified zone.

Not good. :-(

11. yup i took my children to DC for 5 days last month...it was messed up

we couldn't get near the WH...closest we were allowed to get to the WH was the Washington monument... Sharon was in town...it seemed like a hundred cranes dotted the skyline and pile drivers pounded out all conversation...it really was bad... DUDE WHERE'S MY COUNTRY!!!

2. When I saw Farhenheit 9-11 and saw the big green fence in front of the

White HOuse I could not believe it. The last time I visited DC, there was none of this fence that kept visitors from getting too close to the White House.

It probably will never be restored to it's free feeling.

I do not think I will have much incentive to visit my own capital. I am simply turned off andhave no taste for it.

That scene with the big green fence protecting the White HOuse from terrorists, just turned me off.
