Batman Supporters Come Here
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 09:45 PM by FreedomReload
Right here on DU's homepage, a writer for the Spider-man campaign has slandered the Dark Knight by comparing him to George Bush. Anybody who knows Bats knows he is very liberal.

A strong advocate of gun control.

Demands corporate responsibility and accountability. How many millionaires do you know who spend all their money fighting crime and helping the community?

He kicks the crap out of criminals who deserve it, but never kills and is against the death penalty.

Also believes the criminally insane should be rehabilitated, probably because he himself is a bit crazy.

Not to mention the fact that he has saved the collective asses of the Justice League many times over.

In response to the BS that is being spewed against my hero, I will boycott the Spider-man movie as well as all Spider-man related products. I donated money to Batman today by buying his animated adventures on DVD for $50.00. All supporters of the caped crusader, voice your angry at Spidey's lies and deceit.

2. I'm with you
In a match between Spider-man and Batman, I would back Batman any day of the week.

5. Agreed, But Here Is My Real Problem With The Article
I don't like it when fictional characters are used and twisted to form an argument which has no basis in reality. Batman, despite being rough around the edges, has proven to be a hero of Gotham city. To connect him to George Bush in anyway makes me want to vomit. I know I am probably taking this too seriously but I can't help it.

7. Heck, if it came down to Batman Vs. Superman...
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 10:47 PM by Siflnolly
I'd still put my money on Batman. You know he's got to have some 'bat-kryptonine' tucked away in his utility belt... just in case...

17. Why can't Superman just carry ...

The super-bazooka. Locate Batman, Blow him away.

For all the Spiderman can kick the Flashes ass talk, I'm surprised no one has made a vs game matching various super-heroes against each other.

"Superhero deathmatch!!!!!"

While we're at it, I want to see "political deathmatch" as well. They could even have weapons. Kerry would be in his nam uniform weilding a hockey stick. Bush would be in his prep school cheerleader uniform brandishing a megaphone. I wanna see Kerry slapshot Bush's head ;-)

A strong advocate of gun control.

Not many people know this, but BM used to be a two-fisted gunfighter.

Demands corporate responsibility and accountability. How many millionaires do you know who spend all their money fighting crime and helping the community?

Name an issue that actually shows him running the company's day-to-day business. He only shows up when there are problems.

He kicks the crap out of criminals who deserve it, but never kills and is against the death penalty.

Unless we are talking about the movie versions.

Also believes the criminally insane should be rehabilitated, probably because he himself is a bit crazy.

Even I have to wonder about saving the Joker, especially after what he did to Batgirl.

6. My reply
"Not many people know this, but BM used to be a two-fisted gunfighter."

Your right, but I am talking about the current version of Batman, not the very early version that used guns and killed.

"Name an issue that actually shows him running the company's day-to-day business. He only shows up when there are problems."

Perhaps, but we never see him do any wrong-doings in his company, only fixing things. He has taken down the heads of other corrupt corporations.

"Unless we are talking about the movie versions."

I hate the live action movies. The comics and the animated series are both consistent on Batman not killing.

"Even I have to wonder about saving the Joker, especially after what he did to Batgirl."

Batman's moral code won't allow him to kill. Also there is the fact that killing a popular villain would be a disastrous move on DC's part.

8. Good response!
lol! I your answer about the Joker. I'm anti-death, but even I would have to wonder about The Joker. I mean, Batgirl and killing that one Robin (who everyone hated, so we forget).

13. About Joker,

If you've read "The Killing Joke" where the Joker shoots Barbara Gordon (and does some other sick things) you find out why Batman doesn't kill him.

9. Thank you
I was gonna start a Batman thread today and/or cancel my DU membership over such utter heresy.

The Justice league are a bunch of extroverts who cannot understand how introverts think or act.

11. A Better George Bush Comparison
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 11:03 PM by FreedomReload
Would have been Lex Luthor. I know Bush is too stupid to match Luthor's intelligence, but a number of anti-Iraqi war Justice League comics have featured Lex as the evil President. I saw an interesting article on it that I will try to find.

Here it is: Superman vs. the War Party

14. Bush most resembles ....

Superman Bizzaro in the DC world. In the Marvel World, I'd say he's like Carnage.

BTW, Spidey has always been my favorite. But I like the Dark Knight as well.

Superman is the dumbest super-hero ever invented. See the following for a good explanation as well as a laugh riot over the "super-friends".

But to be fair, post-crisis Superman's power level was toned down significantly. Superman is still a great character regardless of what powers he has.

20. Superman still has the best disguise of any super-hero ...

Eye Glasses. No one would EVER see through that.

I love the spoof of this in "Mystery Men". Captain Amazing DOES NOT have glasses, he couldn't possibly be Lance .....

What's the recidivism rate for criminals caught by Batman, 100%? Arkham Asylum must be the easiest mental health facility in the country to escape from.

24. Bats is a philanthropist...
or at least Bruce Wayne is...frankly people confuse cartoonish images of strength with conservatism far too easily IMHO.
Gimme Adam West as Batman any day of the week "Some days you JUST can't get rid of a bomb" is a line to summarize the 1960's very neatly.
:)
