How many hours of sleep does a cat require? |
|
I ask this because my roommate's cat has been zonked out on my bed for about the last three hours. Should I plan on not sleeping alone tonight for the first time in ages?

I think there isn't a limit on that. But, THIS I will tell you, keep the little fucker away unless you want him running up and down the hall all night.

Here's a two step solution to your sleeping problem.
One. Go over to your bed, reach down and pick up roommate's cat.
Two. Walk across room, and deposit roommate's cat on roommate's bed.
Both the roommate and the cat will appreciate your thoughtfulness. The cat may shoot you a dirty look, but don't think anything of it. Cats are very forgiving.

11. I remember my vet saying my cat needed to "take it easy" |
|
I told him if he took it any easier I would have to get him stuffed.

14. No More Games of Fetch |
|
Give the cat a break. Let the cat fetch a stick once or twice, but don't make a steady routine of it. Cats try to please, it's their nature. Don't ruin it for them.

If you are worried about getting scratched, throw a big towel over the cat and quickly wrap him/her in it. This is my method for getting my cats to the vet or giving them meds. Most cats can be waken fairly easy, since they rarely sleep very deeply. Most of my 5 cats hate to have the paws tickled, so if I want them to move, I'll tickle their toes.

interspersed with licking oneself, eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, staring at me with freaky ass eyes, and demanding with loud meows to be scratched. Yep, that's what she does. Oh and give the dog dirty looks.
As for the cat on your bed, just pick it up and deposit it somewhere else.
My cat curls up in my armpit every night to sleep, after demanding 45 minutes of "scratchins" as we call it. She's high-maintenance.
