5. There's always a silver-lining!
If you get shot in the head by marauding street-gangs, you get to experience our legendary healthcare system. Hooray!

6. Living in Burnaby is never having to say you're Surrey!

7. I've lived in both
I choose not to live in either now.

Parts of Surrey are nice - South Surrey (they like to believe that they are a part of White Rock.) Family types flock to the Cloverdale area. Many parts of Surrey are seedy and depressing. It is also the car theft capital of the world.

Burnaby has no soul. It's the place between Vancouver and New Westminster and Coquitlam. There are some nice parks etc. I hate the Metrotown area. It has the downside of downtown (crowded, traffic etc.) without the charm and character.

Overall, I would say that I prefer Burnaby. There is absolutely less of a stigma to admitting to a Burnaby address. It is closer to the amenities of Vancouver. And most importantly, in a city surrounded by water, no bridges between you and the main part of the city.

You can apply for both jobs. There is no law saying that you need to live exactly where you work.

8. true
the jobs are at two of the SFU campuses (campi?) - Burnaby and Surrey. I am tired of commuting and would like to live close to where I work for awhile.

9. Was it the Sociology bloc at the Burnaby campus that doubled as
FBI Headquarters in the X-Files?

12. that's the best part of Burnaby
I would go with that option. I do hate that campus though - could there be anymore gray cement?

11. Burnaby
(but then again, that's where my relatives live -- and they have a Lee Valley Tools outlet by the river)

If you can live within walking/biking distance of SFU, that's a bonus.

13. Burnaby...
I would also consider living in Vancouver proper depending on where you would be working in Burnaby...

14. OH yeah Burnaby..definately!
Closer to Vancouver, much better enviroment then Surrey. A tad more expensive, but not unreasonable if you look.
