What am I going to forget when I pack? |
|
I'm leaving tomorrow to go to Colorado to do some volunteer work at a summer camp for kids for about a month. Help remind me DUers: What's essential?

If you forget something you can buy it when you get there.
that little tidbit of knowledge makes packing so much easier.

8. Directions to get where you're going, and Plan B |
|
Whether it's directions to the camp itself, or just to where you're going to meet someone to take you there, make sure you know how to get there, and have a number you can call in case something goes wrong (and, if need be, enough change to make the call from a pay phone).

I don't know how much the day/night temperature varies, or likelihood of dry vs. wet weather, but YOU should (ask if you don't already know), and pack to handle whatever may hit you (plus a little margin of error).

I ALWAYS forget my nightgown. ALWAYS. So, remember yours.
Also, I'm a total germ-phobe, so I carry a small thing of lysol or other cleaner as well as antibacterial hand-wipes.
Bring kleenex and antihistamine, too, if you're prone to allergies. If you said you'll be camping, then perhaps a small jar of Calmine lotion and/or Neosporin ointment for cuts/scrapes, and bandaids. The facility will probably have all that, but I always like to have my own stash.
Extra swimsuit, maybe?
And extra batteries for your small flashlight...

one that has tweezers for splinters, small scissors and a small knife.
And I have to also agree with the extra towel (hand/washcloth and body towel) and your own pillow.
