any chess afficionados here?
Im a bit sketchy on the details but i was looking for a replay of a match between two grandmasters in 1922 (i think). One of them was called White and he sacrificied his queen in order to check mate the other in 18 moves!!! I t was brilliant but i cant find any reference to it. Any suggestions?

1. Im not sure, but I do know that happens more frequent than
might be thought. There was a bright kid in chess club once that did the same thing... sac queen, only to put my in a position to allow his pawns to advance and get queened, and I forfieted b4 checkmate.

One time, someone took 50 mins to make his opening move.

2. Usually White just refers to whomever is playing white.
I don't recal any masters named White, but this is the most famous 18 move checkmate from that era.

In my opinon, a huge mistake was made by white on move 13, it should have been mate there.

4. Hey - that's a cool site
T H A N K S !

I'll have to go there again. My cats haete when I set up a real board and study it while ignoring them. They tend to think they ought to lie down in the middle of it so I can pet them. Makes studying a game somewhat difficult.

:hi:

:bounce: I :loveya: this game! :bounce:

5. I only found one 18 move game from around that time so far.
And the guy playing white was named, Whitehead. He lost. No Queen sac, but an enjoyable king hunt anyway. I'll further consult my database.
