Poll question: Jeopardy fans: How much longer will Ken Jennings continue winning?
http://www.jeopardy.com/gena.pjw?cont=_kenjennings&cat=contestant

(snip)

He just broke the million-dollar mark and continues to shatter all JEOPARDY! records. The correct question: Who is Ken Jennings? Yesterday on JEOPARDY!, amiable software developer Ken Jennings from Salt Lake City soared beyond the $1 Million Dollar cash-winning milestone. Jennings’ Tuesday, July 13 episode marked his 30th consecutive appearance, and made the 30-year-old wunderkind a newly minted millionaire, with a whopping total so far of $1,004,960. Quick on the buzzer and well-versed in topics from Rock Music to Opera (“Who is Kurt Cobain?” and “What is Madame Butterfly?” were among his over 1,000 correct responses so far), the champ has steadily averaged over $33,000 per JEOPARDY! episode.

A rule change introduced in the Fall of 2003 lifted JEOPARDY!’s five-day win limit, allowing contestants the opportunity to continue earning winnings as long as they remain victorious. “When we changed the rule, we declared that the Sky’s the Limit for JEOPARDY! Champions, and boy, oh boy, has Ken certainly proven that true,” says JEOPARDY! host Alex Trebek.

(snip)

The previous JEOPARDY! record-holder, Tom Walsh from Washington, D.C., a former policy advisor to the Senate Finance Committee, won seven shows and earned $184,900 in January 2004

3. He is good but not unbeatable
He will lose at some point. It is going to take some luck and it will probably occur when Jennings is tired after playing four games in a row. Jeopardy tapes five days at a time and the games where it has been somewhat closer appear to be at the end of a five game set.

15. Nonsense! His Breadth Of Knowledge Is Impressive

I don't buy the "fix is in" stuff. That show has had stable and respectable ratings, on a continuous basis, for nearly 20 years. If they were going to do this for ratings, they would have done it in May for the sweeps.

His percentage questions answered is over 50%, and his original victory was over a 4 time winner who had won over $70k. He averages only about 3 wrong answers per show.

I don't get why people on this site would want to demean a very smart guy, who has developed a strategy to win a game based upon a broad base of knowledge and logically deducing some things from the clues.

It would seem the folks here would stand behind a smart people. Bashing the academic "elites" is for Republicans!

6. He's an a-hole.
He'll outbuzz other contestants shamelessly and a co-worker told me he's starting to get real cocky.

I think it's time that Mr. Cocky loses his balls.

then Jeopardy can say they have paid out the biggest winnings.. they'll then either quit helping him along or set someone else up with the answers to take him out.

17. I'm thinking maybe at about 1.4 million
The guy's quite damn good. But one can't be good that way forever. I would think that he'd just start getting bored with it all and call it quits, but then I remember he's earning about $60,000 an hour.

Would you quit a $60,000 an hour job that consisted of answering questions? I wouldn't.

So I think we have to wait until he just makes a mistake.

I give him about three weeks - another $400,000 or so.
