Just back from Cyndi Lauper concert... ask me anything.
She rocks pretty hard for 51 years old.

1. I am soooo jealous!!
I wanted to catch her the last time she came through this area..

She was my first favourite artist. I played her debut album to death!

Yes she still rocks for being 51!

5. see her if you get a chance...
she's touring a lot this summer, I think.

Great show... the only disappointment was she didn't do a lot of the fun stuff off her new album (I know, a rare complaint). But I LOVE At Last. She did five songs off it, though: Walk on By, At Last, Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, Unchained Melody, and Stay.

And she also did every other song you'd expect her to do.

4. absolutely
I brought a friend who wasn't really into her, but likes good vocalists. After the show he told me he was very impressed - she has incredible pipes, perfect pitch, great breath control... she's a REAL singer. Unfortunately, not many people know that about her.

9. Lucky You...
I would have enjoyed seeing that too. I'm glad you had a good time.

How old was the crowd? Well behaved, or stoned, or drunk and rowdy, or festive and rowdy?

14. Quite a mixed crowd...
largely gay, wide range of ages, and well-behaved. She came out into the crowd four times, just walking up the aisle and standing up on the seats to sing. She has no fear of her fans, that's for sure.

11. Excellent
Granted, I was only two or three years old when "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" came out and I missed most of the period where she was at the peak of her popularity. But I am a fan of her music and consider that she produced many wonderful hits. You are fortunate to have seen her in concert and it's good to see that she is still around and making good use of her excellent talents

16. She Also Selects Outstanding Bands
Her backing musicians are always excellent players that play well together. It's not just her voice. It's her voice over a kick-ass band.

19. she did a very funny version of it...
brought out an accordion player and launched into a big story about saying "pardon my French" when cursing. So she said she's decided to do She Bop in French and sang it (in English, actually) as a french chancon. Pretty funny.

She sang every song you'd expect to hear from her: Time After Time, True Colors, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, I Drove All Night, Sisters of Avalon, Money Changes Everything, Change of Heart...

18. She has the most amazing voice
I've very jealous you got to see her live.

I remember reading an article about how her studio techs convinced her to buy a compression unit (she has her own in-home studio). She acquiesed and the next time she recorded the used it. Apparently, every time her voice approached the point where the compression would have kicked in, she already knew instinctively to back off vocally, she's just that good technically. The unit never kicked in. The studio techs, who had all been in the biz for as long as her, were amazed. She didn't even know what she'd done.

23. I adore her latest: At Last
I was hoping to hear more from it. I really wanted to hear Ma Vie en Rose and Baby Just Cares for me, but she didn't do them.

She did five numbers from the new album: she opened with At Last, and during the show did Stay, Walk on By, Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, then Unchained Melody as her first encore.

22. I liked her an all
But it wasn't until I saw her do a duet with Patty Labelle on some TV show, that I found a whole new respect for her as a singer.
