West Wing episode last night.
Edited on Fri Jul-16-04 07:29 AM by DarkPhenyx
It was part one of the "Inauguration Day" pieces.

The exchange I remember was between Bartlett and Will, the replacement speech writer.

Bartlett: "Why is it that a (insert nationality here) life is less valuable than an American life?"

Will: "I don't know sir, but it is."

You get the distinct feeling that Will is respectfully dressing the President down. All of this is going on with the backdrop of Inauguration Day and a ethnic clensing in an African country where we are evacuationg the Americans but not getting involved.

Another exchange was at breakfast where the President admits he got a "sketchy" report on the genocide that morning. The African rep are the table saks "with all due respect Sir, but if this was happening in a small European country would your report have ben as sketchy?"

I usually wonder why the neo-Conservatives hate that show so much. Then I see an episode that reminds me why.

2. I try to catch it on Bravo at 1900.
that's 7:00 pm for the rest of you. My roommate kinda "owns" the TV though, and is not really interested in politics. So I miss it moderately often.

3. I've only seen reruns on Bravo myself.
The first time I saw West Wing I was flipping through the channels & came across the one with the "Dr. Laura" clone. I fell in love with the show & watch when ever I can.
I think I will ask for the DVDs for Christmas.

5. Is that the episode where...
Bartlett tears her a new one by simply quoting the bible? Because if it is, that is one of my favorite episodes. For the time being President Bartlett *is* my president!

7. True...
...which is sad. It is also a very long, and ultimately depressing, discussion.
